The Capanthall were the Capustan city garrison under the command of Prince Jelarkan.[1] By law they were not allowed to number more than two thousand soldiers. Additionally, the best of the Capanthall were constantly being poached by the Gidrath, the private forces of the city's various temples which were represented by the prince's rival in government, the Mask Council.[2]
In Memories of Ice
In the face of the Pannion Domin invasion, Prince Jelarkan circumvented the Capanthall's limits by hiring the Grey Swords mercenary company. This added almost seven thousand soldiers to his control.[2]
