Hanabi

"Awww shit! Tonight, we bring you a fireworks extravaganza guaranteed to go up in them skies with all the powder and power we got. All you pimps and playas out there are in for a real treat."
The Black Baron

Hanabi is a Bloodbath Challenge in the DeathWatch games held on Jefferson Island. It is the Bloodbath Challenge of Asian Town's Bistro "La Lusty Geisha" and is the sixth Bloodbath Challenge of MadWorld.

The Challenge

The objective of the Challenge is to turn enemies into fireworks, either by shoving or tossing them into the hanabi barrels. Once an enemy is in a barrel, he will stay there until the end of the round, where he is launched into the air to explode into a bright, red mist.

Hanabi has three rounds, each with an increasing number of barrels. Some barrels come in groups and are launched simultaneously.

Barrels
(per round)
Round 1 Round 2 Final round
Single barrels 2 3 6
Double barrels 1 2 2
Triple barrels - 1 1
Total barrels 4 10 13

Scoring points

The points scored in Hanabi are dependent on two factors: The amount of enemies killed and the amount of times the fireworks are launched (i.e. the combo length).

The points for the combo length are calculated by

, with standing for the combo length.

If , then the formula doesn't apply and a determined value of 1,000 points is awarded.
Additionally, a bonus for the amount of kills is added according to

, with standing for the amount of enemies killed.

This results in a single formula that can be used to calculate the total points received for each round in Hanabi.

Thus, the combo length has a greater influence on the score than the total amount of enemies killed, so if the time is running out, it is better to focus on the single barrels rather than the double and triple barrels.

As there are only a limited number of barrels, there is also a maximum amount of points that can be earned. That amount is 337,000 points.

The exact amount of points depending on the amount of kills and the combo length can be found in the table below.

The grey values are only theoretical, as the required combos are impossible to perform.
The bold values indicate the maximum combos for each round of Hanabi.

Multiplayer rules

In multiplayer, each enemy that is tossed into a barrel is worth one point. There are no bonus points for combos. The points are not awarded to the one who tossed the enemy into the barrel, but to the one who was supposed to do so, determined by the mask the enemy was wearing (Big Bull Mask for Jack, Madam Yang for Kojack).
