MiU (Hangul: 미유) is a Japanese singer under 143 Entertainment. She is a former member of the girl group LIMELIGHT and a member of MADEIN.
History
Early life
MiU was born Ito Miyu (伊藤美優) in Setagaya-ku, Tokyo, Japan on January 9, 2003.
2020-2021: N.D.Promotion, Girls Planet 999
In 2020, MiU was signed to N.D.Promotion in Japan as a talent and worked in modelling and as an influencer across YouTube. However since spring 2021, all her social media accounts were deactivated and her profile was removed from N.D.Promotion's website indicating she had left the agency.
On July 8, 2021, MiU was revealed as a contestant of the upcoming survival show Girls Planet 999 through a prologue trailer.[3] Her official profile was released on July 19.[4] The first episode aired on August 6. Unfortunately, she was eliminated during the first round of eliminations in the fifth episode of the show which aired on September 3.[5]
On December 24, 143 Entertainment announced that MiU signed with the company.[6]
2022–2024: Debut with LIMELIGHT
On January 14, 2022, 143 Entertainment officially announced that MiU signed with them following the end of Girls Planet 999 and would be debuting under their new girl group by the end of the year.[7]
On August 12, 2022, she was introduced as a member of LIMELIGHT alongside Suhye and Gaeun.[8] They made their debut on February 17, 2023 with the EP LOVE & HAPPINESS.
2024: Debut with MADEIN
On July 29, 2024, she was introduced as a member of MADEIN.[9]
