In Númenor, Noirinan was a valley on the southern slopes of Meneltarma.

History

Within the rock of the mountain was a head-chamber where the bygone Kings and Queens of Númenor were entombed.[1][2]

Etymology

Noirinan was a Quenya name meaning "Valley of the tombs". It came from the words noirë, meaning 'tomb', and nan, 'valley'.[citation needed]
