[#] (Hash,[1][2][3] Hangul: 해시; also known as Sharp,[4] Hangul: 샵) is the second mini-album from South Korean girl group LOOΠΔ. It was released on February 5, 2020, including lead single “365” and title track “So What”.
It was announced[5] on January 7, 2020 via Fancafe that HaSeul would not be participating in promotions for this album due to mental health concerns.
The album also comes with a CD Exclusive, including track “Day & Night”.
The members’ individual teasers were released at 12am (KST) and 2:05pm (KST), the latter being in reference to the date the album was released, February 5.
Description
Album
If [+ +] was about the basic combination of adding each other, [X X] was about the applied combination of multiplying each other.
Just like how # has little meaning when used by itself, but manifests in special functions or great achievement when used alongside words and characters, [#] is about how we can realize results from multi-use combinations when we are together.[6]
Music Video
Fate collides fate in LOOΠΔ to make coincidence.
12th member, Olivia Hye and the 1st member HeeJin meets in fate and made LOOΠΔ as a whole world.
[#] does not mean much when it is used alone, but it means that when # is used in combination with words or letters, they realize the result of a multi-use combination when they are together, just as they perform a special function or great ability.
Through this album, LOOΠΔ want people to break out of the box, boundaries and prejudices, showing them to not to be afraid to challenge yourself. It is possible to make different waves more than you can imagine if you challenge yourself with your passion(BURN), and go forward.
On “THE BACK OF THE MOON”, which no one knows about, instead of a moon that does not shine on its own and always shows the same side, LOOΠΔ serves as a fuse in the heart of the whole LOOΠΔs around the world.
Through this album, LOOΠΔ is about to show the whole different confident, challenging LOOΠΔ, not the same LOOΠΔ people all know.[7]
Album
Music Video

Background and release
On March 31, 2019, a teaser titled “#” was released on LOONA’s official YouTube channel. This release came directly after conclusion of official promotions for [X X], LOONA’s previous album, identical to the release of the first [X X] teaser immediately following the end of [+ +] promotions. Unlike the [X X] teaser cycle, however, the next teaser for [#] would not materialize for almost nine months.
On December 13, 2019, LOONA released digital single “365” as a thank you to fans for waiting so long for the group’s return.
On December 15, 2019, a new teaser titled “#1” appeared on YouTube.[10] At midnight on January 1, 2020, LOONA posted a teaser, featuring a red moon and the words “2020 / Coming Soon / LOONA”, for their upcoming album [#] on Twitter.[11]
On January 7, a statement from BlockBerryCreative was posted to LOONA’s Fan Cafe, announcing that member HaSeul would not participate in album promotions due to receiving treatment for anxiety.[12]
The first member promotional photo, featuring Olivia Hye, was published on January 13[13], with the final teaser of the sequence, featuring YeoJin, appearing on January 18.[14] The tracklist for the album, including title track “So What” and pre-release single “365”, was revealed on January 20.[15] Album preorders were also announced via the group’s social media.
A few days later, on January 28, it was announced that a live showcase would be held via the group’s VLIVE on February 5 from Yes24 Hall.[16]
The music video for title track “So What” was released, along with the rest of the album, on February 5, 2020 at 6PM KST.[17]
Composition
Jaden Jeong, who acted as LOONA’s creative director and head of A&R since the beginning of the LOONA project, left the enterprise following his involvment in [X X]. Longtime A&R members Ryu Ji In (HeeJin to [X X]) and Kim Hyun Ho (YeoJin to [X X]) also departed around the same time.
Lee Soo Man, founder of multinational entertainment company SM Entertainment, worked as “Music Producer” on [#]. LOONA is the first non-SM artist Lee Soo Man has produced for.[18] He was impressed by LOONA’s 2019 dance cover of “Cherry Bomb”, a song by NCT 127 of SM Entertainment. According to LOONA member Yves, “While working on his global project, [Lee Soo Man] found out about us. After seeing our cover of ‘Cherry Bomb’, he saw potential in us and gladly participated as a producer, for which we are grateful for.”[19]
Every track from the [#] mini-album (seven tracks in total) was produced by at least one producer from music rights company EKKO Music Rights, which was co-founded by Lee Soo Man. This mini-album is the first post-debut LOONA music project not to feature songs made by South Korean producing team MonoTree.
Promotion
LOONA made their comeback stage on M! Countdown along with other artists, such as GFriend and EVERGLOW. [20]
LOONA earned their first ever #1 of the week with “So What” on M! Countdown on March 12.[21]
