Lara is a female gazelle. She is the mate of Herman.
Lara invited an ugly wildebeest named Herman to her birthday party, despite his unattractive appearance. At the celebration, she was wooed by a gazelle named Mel, whose forceful behavior polarized her. Just then, a cleaned-up Herman arrived, and Mel challenged him for Lara's affections. To win the fight, Herman revealed his ugly appearance, which chased off Mel. This inspired Lara to reveal that she too was ugly, and the two became a couple.

Early life
Lara lived in the Pride Lands.[1]
Romance with Herman
When Herman approached a water hole to get a drink of water, his ugliness chased away the animals who were gathered around the pool, leaving him alone with Lara and her friends. Once Lara's friends realized that they were in the presence of such an ugly beast, they laughed at him and mocked him for his appearance. Lara told them to leave Herman alone. She then asked Herman if he would attend her birthday party, and, ignoring the protests of her friends, he accepted the invitation.
While Herman got a makeover by Rafiki, the savanna celebrated Lara's birthday with a giant cake. As the festivities commenced, a muscular gazelle named Mel popped out of the cake and attempted to serenade Lara with a song, but she was disgusted and rejected his kiss. Just as Mel moved in for another attempt, Lara turned to find that Herman was at her party and handsomer than ever. Outraged at being outdone by a wildebeest, Mel challenged Herman to a fight in which they would run at each other full-force and collide horns. Determined to win Lara's heart, Herman agreed.
As the two charged at each other, Herman suddenly realized that he must be true to himself and dunked his head underwater, which changed him back into an ugly beast. Mel stopped short at Herman's transformation and ran away, screeching. Despite his victory, Herman was sad that he was ugly again and began to troop away with Rafiki. However, he was stopped by Lara, who admired him for his bravery. To his delight and surprise, she dunked her head underwater, revealing herself to be ugly as well. The two then shared a romantic kiss.[1]
Physical appearance
At first, Lara disguised herself as a beautiful gazelle with bangs and a pink bow on her head. However, her true form is not conventionally attractive. She has brown fur, with a tan chest, inner ears, and eye rims. Her eyes are bi-colored; one is blue, and one is green. She also has buck teeth.[1]
Personality and traits
Lara is a kind-hearted and loving gazelle. Despite Herman's ugly appearance and the fact that her friends make fun of him for it, she still has romantic feelings for him and even invited him to her birthday party. Lara does not seem to like those who are cocky about their appearance or push themselves on her, as seen when she rejected Mel.
Initially, Lara was insecure about her true unattractive appearance, as she feared that everyone would either make fun of her or run away from her, like they did to Herman. However, when she saw Herman learn to be true to himself, she felt confident enough to reveal her true form, not just to the wildebeest, but to all the animals surrounding them.[1]
