Well, you may not be Grade A, but starvers can't be choosers. Oh, what I wouldn't do for a big, old, well-done New York City steak!
―The castaway to Timon and Pumbaa[src]

The castaway is a male human.

After getting stranded on an island, the castaway attempted to eat Timon and Pumbaa, who were on their way to New York City. Initially, he pretended to be a New York City tour guide and tricked the friends into getting into a pot. Timon and Pumbaa soon realized that they were going to be cooked and attempted to escape the castaway.

When they failed to get away from the castaway, Timon and Pumbaa convinced the man that they were not edible and suggested that they help him get off the island. The castaway agreed to their terms but warned them that if their plan did not work, he would try to eat them again. Timon and Pumbaa made three attempts to help the man get off the island, the last of which ended in success.

Biography

Early life

The castaway lived on Manhattan Island. He was a jet pilot. One day, while he was on a flight, his jet plane crashed into a deserted island.[1]

Encounter with Timon and Pumbaa

When Timon and Pumbaa got out of their delivery crate and found themselves on an island, the castaway spotted the two friends from a distance and decided to eat them. Confused about their location, Timon explained the difference between New York City and a desert island to Pumbaa. The warthog believed that they were stranded on a desert island, while Timon believed that they had passed through a time warp that had sent them back to historical Manhattan Island. Pumbaa thought Timon's idea was too complicated to believe, so he suggested that they ask the castaway.

The castaway convinced Timon and Pumbaa that they were on Manhattan Island and that he was a tour guide. Timon found it suspicious that the man did not look like a tour guide but rather a very hungry castaway. The castaway quickly disguised himself as a tour guide. He then brought out a pot, convinced Timon and Pumbaa that it was a carriage, and told the two that he would take them to Central Park. While Timon was excited by the idea, Pumbaa did not see the point of going to a place that was filled with trees, as he and Timon already lived in a jungle. The warthog expressed a desire to visit the city itself and attend a Broadway show. Timon agreed and asked the castaway to take them there.

The castaway started cooking Timon and Pumbaa, during which they believed that they were watching a Shakespearean play called Hamlet and Eggs and that they were sitting in outdoor seats. The castaway convinced the duo that they were at a dinner theater, which excited them. The castaway then added food to the pot. Before long, Timon and Pumbaa started smelling the food and realized that they were being cooked. Panicked and fearful, they tried to escape the castaway.

After failing to get away from the castaway, Timon and Pumbaa convinced him that they would be impossible to eat. This made the castaway wish that he could be in New York City, where there was good food. Timon and Pumbaa decided to help him get off the island so that he could reach the city. The man agreed to their plan but warned them that if they failed to fulfill their end of the bargain, he would eat them.

Twice, Timon and Pumbaa tried to use the castaway's jet plane to get him off the desert island, but both efforts ended in failure, and the second attempt wrecked the plane. For their third try, Timon and Pumbaa built wings to put on the castaway. This plan succeeded, and the man was able to fly away from the island.[1]

Physical appearance

The castaway is a tall and skinny man with fair skin, a long pointy nose, and gray hair. His eyes are blue. He wears brown goggles, a long-sleeved red shirt, long brownish-gray pants, and a rope tied at his waist.[1]

Personality and traits

Due to how long he had gone without food, the castaway was willing to eat anything, including living creatures like Timon and Pumbaa. He was quite manipulative, as he took advantage of Timon and Pumbaa's confusion about their location in order to eat them. Later, he teamed up with Timon and Pumbaa so that he could escape the island, though he warned them that he would try to eat them again if they should fail.[1]
