Azibo was a male lion. He was a member of the Outsiders.
As part of their pride's campaign to conquer the Valley of Kings, Azibo and Shaju attacked Eshe. Seeing his adoptive mother in danger, Mufasa leaped to her defense and killed Shaju. Azibo fled the scene and returned to the Outsiders with news of the attack. Though he claimed that he had been badly injured, Akua and Amara countered that he had abandoned Shaju to die. As recompense for his son's death, Kiros allowed his pride to kill Azibo.
Biography
Early life
Azibo lived in the Valley of Kings. He was a member of the Outsiders.[1]
Attack on Eshe and Mufasa
One day, Azibo and Shaju attacked Eshe. Leaping to his adoptive mother's defense, Mufasa attacked Shaju and threw him onto the sharp point of a log, killing him instantly. Upon realizing that he was outnumbered, Azibo fled the battlefield.
Upon Azibo's return to the Outsiders, Kiros questioned where his son was, and Azibo answered that a young lion had fought Shaju. Kiros pointed out that Azibo had survived, but he protested that he had been badly hurt. Rather than accept his word, Kiros summoned Akua and Amara, who sniffed Azibo and determined that, though there had been others, only one had left blood on his mane. They then declared that he had abandoned Shaju to die. Despite Azibo's pleas for mercy, Kiros allowed his pride to kill him.[1]
Physical appearance
Azibo was a moderately sized lion with a somewhat long face and a wrinkled forehead. His mane and pelt were white, while his nose was dark gray. He had blue eyes as well as a notch in his right ear.[1]
Personality and traits
Though a fierce fighter, Azibo fled from fights he did not think he could win. In the face of his king, Kiros, he was fearful, subservient, and timid.[1]

- Azibo's name is of Bantu origin and means "the Earth."[3]
- In the official novelization of Mufasa: The Lion King, the lion who fulfills Azibo's role is unnamed. In addition, it is implied that the Outsiders ate him.[4]
