Xiang (Chinese: 向 Xiàng) is a character from the Bridon Arc of the Link Click donghua series. He ran a student loan scam in Bridon that exploited many foreign students and was arrested after Liu Xiao turned him in.[1]
Appearance
Xiang is an older man with sharp features and neatly combed grey hair. He wears formal clothing, including a dark grey suit with a grey waistcoat, high collared white shirt, and black turtle neck sweater.
Personality
At first glance, Xiang is a composed and well-spoken man who gives off an air authority and control. However, appropriate to his love for gambling, this confidence is a bluff. Despite encouraging others to take risks, Xiang himself is risk-adverse, a trait that is noted by one of his accomplices and Liu Xiao. This contradiction is evident during a game of Russian Roulette where Liu Xiao calls his bluff and reveals himself to have the upper hand. In a contrast to Liu Xiao's clam demeanor, Xiang's facade quickly crumbles as he panics.[1]
Story
As of now, Xiang's history is largely unknown, though he has ties to Liu Jing, Liu Min, and Cheng Weimin. Following his divorce with his ex-wife, he had to pay a large alimony, leading to him running a scheme that scammed foreign students of their money.
In Bridon, Xiang appears to have been running an organization marked by an insect amulet, which operated from a former church that he took over.
On the day he met Liu Xiao, the two played Russisan Roulette and later got into a fight. Liu Xiao had the upper hand, incapacitating Xiang and getting him arrested for fraud.[1]
Relationships
Cheng Weimin
Cheng Weimin and Xiang's history is unclear, but significant enough that Liu Xiao sought Xiang out when looking for more information regarding Cheng Weimin.
Liu Min
Xiang mentions that he was quite familiar with Liu Min when he was a kid.[1] He's also implied to know Liu Jing and have connections with their family.
