Mars is a Doctor Who location featured in LEGO Dimensions. It appears in the Doctor Who World.
Background
Mars is the fourth planet from the Sun, the second smallest planet in the Solar System next to Mercury, and one of four Terrestrial Planets in the Solar System, named after the Roman god of war Mars. Due to the red iron from its soil covering the landscape, it is also called as the Red Planet. The Ancient Egyptians even called it once as 'Her Desher' or 'the red one'. It also has the Solar System's largest volcano in Olympus Mons and the Mariner Valley which is a large-scale equatorial canyon system. The planet has two small moons Phobos and Deimos. Its astrological sign (♂) represents Mars' shield and spear, though it is also synonymous to the male gender or masculine sign.
Mars is half of Earth's size in diameters, and has a gravity one-third less than of Earth's, which means that weight on the planet is lighter and gravity reaction is much slower than what is experienced on Earth. Like Earth, it has seasons, polar ice caps, volcanoes (with some of the younger volcanoes formed between 1-2 billion years ago, & volcanism previously being active in the plains and highlands more than 3.5 billion years ago), weather and canyons; however, it is mostly a cold desert planet with its atmosphere (with an average of -80 °F below freezing point) being too thin for liquid water to exist in the soil for long. Researches done by NASA has found that there were floods that occurred on the planet 3.5 billion years ago.
The planet has an orbit of 1.5 farther from the Sun than of Earth's orbit, along with its' slightly elliptical tilt. The layered areas near the polar ice caps have even indicated that the planet's climate have changed over the millennia. So far, the planet doesn't have a known magnetic field, although data coming from NASA's Mars Global Surveyor orbiter have discovered that certain parts of the crust on Mars' southern hemisphere are highly magnetized, with some left over from around 4.5 billion years ago.
Doctor Who
Mars (also known as Sol IV) was a planet in the solar system, inhabited by the Gandorans, the Ice Warriors, a viral species known as the Flood, and later, by human colonists.
