— Basgath, to Goyef
Basgath is a renowned former guide of the Great Elroe Labyrinth's Upper Stratum and is now retired. He is the father of Goyef, who is also a knowledgeable guide.
Basgath is a stoic-looking old guy who’d look cool smoking a cigarette.[1]
Personality
An elder guide who operates in the Great Elroe Labyrinth, Basgath possesses more complete knowledge about the Upper Stratum than anyone else. He is a first-class warrior and a resourceful guide. As a result of surviving long enough to retire from his role, Basgath is extremely cautious. He considers manners a waste of breath and thinks that biting off more than you can chew is idiotic.
After encountering the Nightmare of the Labyrinth, the experience became a trauma for him, and he retired as a guide.[2]
Synopsis
Basgath leads a group of knights from Renxandt to investigate the unusual monster activity in the Great Elroe Labyrinth. He flees after encountering a terrifying Zoa Ele,[3] and later refuses to join the follow-up expedition.[4] Afterwards, feeling there was some kind of fate at work, he becomes a guide for Shun and his companions.[2] He considers Shun’s bad dream to be a bad omen.[5]
Basgath fights with a sword but can also use Dark Magic. He’s strong enough to hold his own in Shun’s party and possesses the unusual ability to eavesdrop on telepathic conversations.
