On September 21, 2014, he posted a series of tweets criticizing Star Empire Entertainment's CEO Shin Joo Hak for mismanagement and exploitation.[9] Just one day later, the agency released their official statement apologizing for the controversy and revealed that they had made up after a candid face-to-face talk with each other. DUI incidents

In 2018, he had his license revoked due to drunk driving.[14][n 2]

On March 7, 2022, YouTuber Caracula, who specializes in automobile accidents, made a video exposing an idol for drunk driving on the evening of March 6. The idol in question was later revealed to be Junyoung; allegedly, he was driving on the wrong side of the road and got into a dispute with another driver, who smelled alcohol on him and called the police. The police who were dispatched to the scene measured his blood alcohol level, which came out to be over 0.08% and is the level for license revocation.[15]

Initially, he refuted the claim with a lengthy Instagram stories, claiming that he was discriminated against for driving a Kia K5 despite being a celeb and was threatened for money, as well as disputing the claims that he was in a verbal altercation with the other driver. He also stated that he would remain silent until the investigation was over and would faithfully undergo the investigation.[16]

He was later fined 8 million KRW for drunk driving on May 31.[14]

Harassment scandal

On March 21, 2022, BJ Haru revealed through a YouTube video that she was harrased by a “famous idol who is currently embroiled in a controversy”. In the video, she showed proofs that he initially approached her under the guise of wanting to do business, before attempting to seduce her to the point of harassment by messaging her daily and sending money on her streams, even after she showed that she was uncomfortable. As she rejected his advances, he demanded that she refund him for the money he had sent her. The BJ then added she had refunded him a total of 1.7 million KRW as she was offended by his attitude toward her.[17]

Initially, he claimed that he had reached out to BJ Haru purely for a music business offer and asserted that he would take legal action against BJ Haru and the netizens who left comments under the video for defamation.[18] However, on March 29, he made a post to his YouTube channel telling fans to unsubscribe and unfollow him, as well as apologizing to ZE:A members and fans for dirtying the group's name.[17]
