WITCHERS

WITCHERS (위쳐스) is an upcoming five-member girl group under Blooming Entertainment. Their debut date is currently unknown.

History

Pre-debut

WITCHERS, under an unrevealed agency, opened an Instagram account in May 2021 with a blank recruitment post looking for young girls who have previous experience in the idol industry.[2] The first member of WITCHERS, Cha Yeju, was revealed on May 17, followed by member Roa on May 24 and Yooria on June 14.[3] However, Yooria was announced to have departed from the girl group for personal reasons just 6 days after her member reveal.[4] Saebom was revealed as the third member on July 3.[5] U-Hyun was revealed as the fourth member on July 20.[6] Layla (later known as Nariu) was revealed as the fifth member on August 10.[7]

On December 29, 2021, the agency announced that Cha Yeju and U-Hyun left the group due to health problems.[8]

On February 12, 2022, WITCHERS released the pre-debut, overcoming COVID-19 hope song, "Song for Overcome", sung by members Nariu and Saebom.[9]

On March 11, 2022, WITCHERS released the pre-debut OST "Love Letter" for the web-drama Cinema Club, sung by members Nariu, Saebom and Roa.[10] All three members, as well as former members Cha Yeju and U-Hyun starred in the web-drama.

On May 23, 2022, the group posted profile pictures of a new member, Jiyoon.[11] Two days later, on May 25, they posted profile pictures of another new member, Risia.[12]

On September 20, 2022, it was announced that WITCHERS postponed their debut due to health problems with the members and other internal issues.[13]

It is presumed that Nariu left the group in early 2023 following the creation of public SNS accounts.[14]

On September 2, 2023, WITCHERS made their first public appearance of the year with two new members, Hina (then known as Seojin) and Yeonkyong. The introduction took place under a South Korean Skin Clinic Instagram page, where they were presented alongside existing members Saebom and Roa [15][16]. Fast forward to October 19, 2023, the new lineup (Yeonkyong, Saebom, Hina, Roa) was spotted at an airport, accompanied by an unidentified member, later revealed to be Yoosia (then known as Minkyung). This also confirmed the departures of Nariu, Risia and Jiyoon.[17]
