SoulstaR (Korean: 소울스타; Japanese: ソウルスター) is a three-member boy group under SoulstaR Company and Think About Entertainment. They debuted on June 1, 2005 with the studio album Soulstar.
History
2005: Debut with Soulstar

On June 1, the group made their official debut with their first full-length album, Soulstar, with the title song, "Only One For Me".[1] The title track was described as a R&B impressive beautiful melody that best shows the group's musical color.[2]
2006–2007: "First Story" and "When We Separate"
On April 21, YG Entertainment announced that the group would release their first single album "First Story".[3] The following year, SoulstaR released their second single album, "When We Separate", on June 21, 2007.[4]
2007–2011: Group's hiatus and departure from YG Entertainment
Between 2007 and 2011, all members of the group unanimously decided that would be going on a hiatus due to their own personal issues.[5] After all personal and situational issues were resolved, SoulstaR signed a contract with SidusHQ, carrying out his musical activities for 4 years.[6]
2011–2012: Departure from SidusHQ, Rebirth, Revive, "Gangnam Station Exit 10" and "Baby You"

After their contracts expired in 2011, the group signed with N.A.P Entertainment.[7] On August 17, 2011, an official from the agency said in a phone call with OhmyNews that they were filming photos of the jacket for the first time in 4 years, revealing a future SoulstaR's album.[8] On September 20, their first mini album, Rebirth, was released with "Right Now" serving as the album's title track.[9]

On July 2, 2012, N.A.P Entertainment announced that the group would release their second mini album, Revive, on the same day.[10] The album's title track "Good-bye Luv" is a remake version of Wheesung's song of the same name, while the follow-up track "Like a Man" is a remake of Fly To The Sky's song.[11] Demo tapes of both songs were given to the group before meeting the original singers, but they did not work out because they were different from the style of music SoulstaR was pursuing in his career.[12]
On September 25, 2012, SoulstaR released his first digital single "Gangnam Station Exit 10". The song reached at #2 on the Soribada's music chart.[13] On September 28, the group announced that they would hold a concert to celebrate the release of the digital single at Cafe Dorothy between Gangnam station and Sinnonhyeon station in Seoul at 8PM.[14] The concert had a special appearance by Gummy. "Gangnam Station Exit 10" was described as a soft folk song that is different from SoulstaR's signature R&B style.[15]
On October 29, his second digital single "Baby You" was released, in collaboration with Ann J of C-REAL. A free concert for 400 people, titled "SoulstaR Concert in the City" at Platoon Kunsthalle in Gangnam on October 31 at 8PM, was announced along with the song.[16]
2013: "300 Won Coffee", "Unknown Number", "Call My Name", "In The Fall (October 1st)", "Perfect Night For Farewell" and "Last Snow With You"

On January 2, 2013, the third digital single "300 Won Coffee", was released.[17] On February 11, 2013, N.A.P Entertainment announced that "Unknown Number" will be released for February 22. The agency also revealed that they would give away tickets to a new SoulstaR's show for 5 people through a draw among those who retweet the video posted on their official accounts.[18] On June 25, their fifth digital single "Call My Name" was released. It is described as a guitar-driven melody that combines with detailed harmonies, creating a perfect song for life's relaxing and happy moments.[19]
"In The Fall (October 1st)" and "Perfect Night For Farewell" were released on October 1 and November 5, 2013, respectively.[20] On December 26, 2013, it was revealed that the group would make a comeback with their first special single "Last Snow With You", which would be released on the same day.[21]
2014: "13 Month Winter", "Walking In The Rain", "Happy Ending" and "Love Love"
The group's second special single, "13 Month Winter", was released on January 16, 2014. Lee Gyu Hoon recorded the song before his military enlistment. On July 30, "Walking In The Rain" was released.[22] On September 26, 2014, N.A.P Entertainment announced that SoulstaR would be releasing their ninth digital single "Happy Ending". The song is defined as a mid-tempo R&B number that promises a happy future for a loved one. It has a simple arrangement, sweet melody, and sweet harmony, and showcases the SoulstaR's emotional vocals well.[23]
On October 28, A teaser video for a future release from the group has been revealed.[24] On October 29, 2014, it was reported that the group would release their 10th digital single "Love Love", along with a music video.[25]
2016: "Real Love Song", "Only One For Me - Part.2" and "Stick With Me"
On January 28, 2016, it was revealed that SoulstaR would release the collaborative digital single "Real Love Song" with Wheesung on the same day.[26] "Only One For Me - Part.2" and "Stick With Me" were released on September 4 and December 20, 2016, respectively.[27]
2017: "We", departure from N.A.P Entertainment, "Cause I'm Loving You" and "Tiny Bits of Life - Part.6"
On March 7, 2017, SoulstaR performed their new digital single "We" on JTBC's music entertainment program, Sing For You.[28] On June 29, 2017, it was reported that Lee Seung Woo created the entertainment company SoulstaR Company, after the expiration of their contracts in the same year.[29] On November 12, the group's 15th digital single, titled "Cause I'm Loving You" was released. It is described as ballad song that will warmly embrace the public ahead of the coming winter and combines sweet sincerity toward a loved one and a sweet piano melody.[30]
On December 21, 2017, joined the "Small Stories", a collaborative project with new lyricists and vocalists, SoulstaR released "Tiny Bits of Life - Part.6". It is a sentimental ballad that makes use of the vintage pop style of the late 1990s.[31]
2018: "Interior", "Lonlelyvacarion", "Problem", "Hello" and "Eve"
On May 3, 2018, a trailer video was released on SoulstaR's social media announcing the release of their 17th digital single, "Interior".[32] It was released on May 7.[33] On August 9, their third special single "Lonlelyvacarion" was announced to be released the following day.[34] On September 23, 2018, SoulstaR revealed on their official accounts the release of their 18th digital single "Problem".[35] On November 5, "Hello" also was announced to be released the following day.[36]
On December 12, 2018, it was revealed that the group's fourth special single "Eve" would be released on December 13, through various streaming services.[37] The song is described as a carol song that you can feel SoulstaR's unique emotions. It contains various emotions such as the wish for everyone to be happy and warm on Christmas Eve.[38]
2019: Think About Entertainment, "Hear You", "Moon Shines", "Homesick" and "Favorite Song"

In June 2019, the group signed an exclusive contract with Think About Entertainment, where they will be responsible for various support related to their musical activities.[39] On September 6, 2019, the group revealed their comeback with "Hear You" for September 7.[40] On October 18, "Moon Shines" was announced to be released on October 20, 2019.[41] On October 15, through his official accounts, SoulstaR announced their 22nd digital single "Homesick", set to be released on November 23.[42]
On December 13, 2019, their 23rd digital single "Favorite Song" was announced, and released the next day.[43]
2020–2024: "Stand Alone" and indefinite hiatus
On October 22, 2020, a post was released on SoulstaR's official accounts announcing their 24th digital single "Stand Alone".[44] After their participation in the original soundtrack for the television series Good Job with SUMMER CAKE,[45] the group was not very active on its official accounts.[46]
