MADEIN (KR: 메이딘; JP: メイディン), stylized as MΛDEIN, is a six-member girl group under 143 Entertainment. Originally as seven, they made their debut on September 3, 2024 with their first EP Rise.
Their group name MADEIN stands for "WE MADEIN U", which refers to the fan's love that helped make the group, as most of the members participated in audition programs.[2]
History
2022–2024: LIMELIGHT, renaming as MADEIN, new members
Gaeun, MiU and Suhye originally debuted as LIMELIGHT on February 17, 2023 with the EP Love & Happiness.
On January 11, 2024, they released their third EP Last Dance, which will be their last release as a trio as the group plan to reorganize and add more members.[3]
On July 15, 2024, all SNS accounts belonging to LIMELIGHT were rebranded as MADEIN. On July 16, it was reported that former Kep1er members Mashiro and Yeseo would be joining MADEIN which will debut in September 2024.[2]
On July 29, all seven members were introduced.[4][5]
2024: Re-debut with Rise, fandom name, Gaeun's hiatus and departure
On August 14, 2024, it was announced that the group will debut on September 3 with their first EP Rise.[6]
Their first-ever Japanese fan concert, titled 'MADEIN "Adventure" 2024', to be held in October, was announced on August 21.[7] A Seoul concert will be held later in the month.[8]
In an interview, the CEO of 143 Entertainment revealed that the group plans to have three releases within a year.[9]
On October 6, MADEIN revealed the name of their official fanclub to be 'MABY', a combination of the group's name and the English word "by", and is pronounced like "maybe". With fans alongside MADEIN, the members will heal and overcome all the trials and tribulations.[1]
On November 11, it was misreported by 143 Entertainment that Gaeun would be entering a hiatus due to "health reasons".[10] On November 22, it was revealed that Gaeun had gone on hiatus due to the sexual assault and maltreatment she had received from the company's CEO.[11]
On November 29, 143 Entertainment released a statement announcing that Gaeun had officially left MADEIN due to personal circumstances and the group would continue activities with the remaining six members.[12]
2025: "MADEIN Forever"
On January 24, 2025, MADEIN opened the pre-orders for their digital single "MADEIN Forever", scheduled for February 14.[13] "Saturn" was pre-released on February 7.
