History
2017–2018: Debut with "Dream On", "Grapes"
Busters held their first official stage at the Hongik University Festival on May 19, 2017 before starting their full activities in July.[1]
Sometime in October, member Soyeon left and was replaced by Minjung.
The group officially debuted on November 27, 2017 with their first single album "Dream On".
They released their second single album, "Grapes", on June 12, 2018.
Busters were expected to be the main characters for the anime series Idol Ranger Power Busters, slated to premiere in Spring 2018, however, the anime is assumed to have been canceled.
2019: Line-up changes, Pinky Promise
On January 26, it was announced through Marbling E&M's official YouTube channel that Minjung had departed from the group.[2] On February 1, Yeseo was announced as their newest member.[3]
Busters released their first digital single titled "Starlight" on July 11 as a pre-release for their first mini album Pinky Promise which was released on July 31.
On November 18, it was announced that Minji had left the group due to personal reasons.[4]
On December 10, the official fancafe posted an announcement introducing their new member, Jieun.[5][6]
2020: New members, "Paeonia", hiatus and reorganization
On March 16, 2020, the group's official fan cafe and Twitter account revealed two new members: Yasuda Takara and Jeon Minji, who would be joining for their next comeback album titled "Paeonia" (피오니아),[7] to be released in May.
On March 29, 2020, Hyungseo posted a letter on fancafe announcing that she was leaving the group to focus on her studies.
On August 6, 2020, Marbling announced Busters would be going on a hiatus and reorganize. The group faced difficult incidents during their recent promotions. As a result, Jisoo, Yeseo, and Chaeyeon, who lost interest in being singers, will finish their singing activities (the current promotions period will be called Bustersβ) and then focus on acting and other broadcasting activities in the near future. A new foreign member will join and the group will continue promotions under the name Power Busters (파워버스터즈).[8]
2020-2021: MyBling, webcomic and new members
On October 21, 2020, Mydoll Entertainment revealed that a special project collaboration unit would be formed between Busters' members Takara, Jieun, and Minji, as well as PinkFantasy members Arang and Harin, and MyDoll trainee Heesun.[9] The unit's debut, called MyBling, has presumably been cancelled due to inactivity since January 2021 and MyBling's Instagram account has been deleted.
On November 26, 2020, it was announced that Busters would be partnering with EBSToon to create a webcomic titled 이계전환 수호대 버스터즈, based on the original concept for Idol Ranger Power Busters, of idols who transform into superheros. The original webtoon colors were updated to match the colors of each member.[10]
During Jieun's birthday V Live, a new member was revealed, and on March 9, 2021, Seira was officially announced as the newest member.[11]
On May 20, 2021, Marbling E&M officially announced Busters' newest and fifth member, MinMin.[12] Her profile photos as well as their new group photos were released on the group's VLIVE.[13] A dance cover of ITZY's "In the morning" was posted on their YouTube Channel that the same day.[14]
On October 22, 2021, Yunji was introduced as a new member of the group.
On October 25, 2021, Marbling announced that MinMin had left Busters due to personal reasons and that the group's comeback would be delayed.[15]
On November 7, 2021, new profile photos of the group and members were released on their V Live.[16][17][18][19][20][21]
2022: "Re:Born", "Tropical Romance", and "Broken Clock"
On March 28, it was announced that Busters would be coming back with the single[n 1] album "Re:Born" at the end of April.[22] On April 15, the schedule was released, announcing the single would be released on April 27.[23] "Re:Born" is their first release in almost two years and first following their reorganization in 2021.[24]
On June 23, it was reported that Busters would be making a comeback in July.[25] On July 1, the release schedule for their single "Tropical Romance" was posted, and the release date of July 11 was announced.[26]
On August 24, Marbling E&M announced that Busters would be releasing a re-arranged version of "Broken Clock", a b-side song from their single "Re:Born", on September 6.[27]
2023: Guest members, Yunji's departure, addition of Nami
On December 5, 2022, it was announced that member Yunji would be absent from upcoming group activities due to personal circumstances.[28] She was replaced by a guest member to continue Busters' activities as a five-member group. Though the guest member was unannounced, through SNS it was discovered to be soloist singer U-Min, best known for being a former CAP-TEEN contestant.[29][30][31][32][33]
U-Min remained active with Busters for approximately four months, but by early May, departed from the girl group.[34] On May 7, Busters announced that a new guest member known as Nami will join the group and has previous idol experience from Thailand.[35]
On May 21, 2023, Yunji announced on her Instagram that she would leave Busters due to personal circumstances and return to be a student.[36]
On June 2, Nami was announced as an official member of Busters.[37]
2024: "Jokgu King"
