BIBI

BIBI (비비), short for nakedbibi, is a South Korean singer-songwriter, rapper and producer under Feel GHood Music and 88rising.

She made her solo debut on May 15, 2019 with the digital single "Binu".

Career

2018–2019: The Fan, debut with "Binu"

BIBI was a contestant on the reality television show, The Fan, after being recommended by Yoonmirae and Tiger JK. She made it to the finale, but ultimately lost in the final episode to Car, the Garden.^[3]

Several months later, she made her official solo debut on May 15, 2019 with the digital single "Binu".

2022: "Animal Farm", Lowlife Princess: Noir

On September 5, 2022, Netflix revealed that BIBI would be playing a role in the season 2 of Sweet Home.^[4] On September 20, 2022, Netflix announced that BIBI had stepped down from her role in Sweet Home 2 due to scheduling conflicts.^[5]

On September 21, 2022, it was announced that BIBI would be releasing the pre-release single, "Animal Farm" for her first full length album, Lowlife Princess: Noir, on September 27, 2022.^[6] Lowlife Princess: Noir was released on November 18 with "BIBI Vengeance" serving as the album's title track.

2024: "Derre"

On November 5, 2024, it was announced that BIBI would be releasing a double single as the third installment of her 'Love ERA' series, in mid-November.^[7] Later that day, BIBI announced the digital single "Derre", scheduled for release on November 14.^[8]

Trivia

• Despite her stage name being BIBI, it is the shortened version of her full stage name 'nakedbibi' (later stylized as 'Naked BIBI', which refers to the innocence and pureness of a naked baby.^[2] Much later, she associated the hanja 飛 with bi (비) to give her stage name a deeper meaning; the hanja itself means "to fly", hence in full it is 飛飛. Thus in Chinese, she is occasionally referred to as Fēifēi (飛飛).
• She draws two trademark moles under her right eye to remind herself to be calm because she can be excessively hyped and upbeat on stage which can lead to mistakes.^[2]
• She was scouted by Yoonmirae who wanted to her to join Feel GHood Music as a topline songwriter but after they met, she was signed as an artist.^[2]
• She is "free-spirited" when it comes to dating and relationships.^[2]
• She has a father-daughter-like relationship with Tiger JK.^[2]
• Her hobby is songwriting.^[2]
• She draws inspiration for her music from personal experience.^[20]
