Pekonyan (ぺこにゃん) was an old arch wizard of the Crimson Demons who turned into a Ghost.[1]
Appearance
Pekonyan looks like a typical Crimson Demon old man, except that he appears to shimmer and levitate.
Personality
Although he is a senile elder, Pekonyan is a rather immature old man. Like his kin, he has a chūnibyō personality, self-introducing and striking cringe-worthy poses. Pekonyan is also very impulsive and obsessed with "coolness", picking and bringing home a cursed boulder just because it "looks cool", as well as pervert, casually peeping the Crimson Demon women on their baths.
History
When he had reached a ripe old age, Pekonyan set out on the clan's traditional journey where their elderly seek out a powerful foe to die fighting against. Yet a month into the trip, he discovered a cursed boulder tied with Japanese sealing ropes placed within a shrine, so he brought it back to the Crimson Demon Village for boasting purposes, only to find out later that it had jinxed the whole village. Unable to convince the other villagers about the existence of the jinx, Pekonyan stayed in the village attempting to break the curse, though he was unsuccessful even until his life came to its end, and after death was considered a weak coward by his fellow Crimson Demons.
Remaining in the living world as a Ghost, Pekonyan continued going around yelling to people about the jinx for years, only to be dismissed as a senile old man. He was finally given attention by Aqua when the village was being rebuilt from the damage wrought by Sylvia, with the Arch Priest dragging Kazuma, Megumin, Darkness, and Yunyun into helping him fulfill his wish.
After Aqua broke the jinx on the boulder, Pekonyan challanged Megumin and Yunyun into battle for fulfilling his final wish. He proceeded to summon a powerful tornado that threatened to blow the party away, though subsequent to Yunyun slashing open the tornado, Pekonyan was blown away by Megumin. His name was eventually catalogued into the Crimson Demons' list of the strong recognised dead.

- Advanced Magic: As a veteran Crimson Demon mage, even after death he can still use various advanced spells.
- Tornado: An advanced spell that creates a powerful tornado capable of sucking up opponents into.

- Pekonyan had owned a field of bloody red watermelons.[2]
