Silvers Rayleigh is a retired pirated living on the Sabaody Archipelago. Years ago, he served under the Roger Pirates as the first mate before retiring. Under a new identity, he began work as a coating mechanic.
He first encounters the Straw Hat Pirates who were protecting Hatchan from a World Noble. When the World Government Marines begin hunting the pirates, Rayleigh shelters Hatchan while the Thousand Sunny is being coated for travel to Fishman Island. Rayleigh also protects Zoro from Kizaru's fatal blow.
After Luffy returns to Rayleigh alone at the conclusion of the Paramount War, he announces his plans to reunite with his crew at Sabaody Archipelago. However, the old man questions whether Luffy will most likely repeat the catastrophe his crew suffered. He soon trained Luffy on Rusukaina in Haki.
Role in Games
In the first, third, and fourth Pirate Warriors games, Rayleigh appears in several cutscenes in the Main/Legend Log, mainly those taking place at Sabaody. However, he does not appear in gameplay directly. In the Dream Log of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 3, he may appear as an event, deploying his former crew mates Buggy and Shanks against the player to test them.
In the second wave of DLC for Pirate Warriors 4, a younger version of Rayleigh was added as a playable character.
