Guess the Card (カード当て) is a game from Kakegurui Midari. It is suggested after a gamble is proposed by Midari Ikishima to counter Naoe Habakiri’s rejection to Ayame Nureba joining the Beautification Council.
While large sums of cash are on the line, the stakes ultimately amount to Midari having to leave the council or Ayame getting to join depending on the outcome.
Rules
The gamble is played between two people, one serving as dealer and the other as the player. Three cards at are play: two are X (Miss) and one is O (Hit). The dealer first mixes and lines up the cards face down, the player is then allowed to bet any portion of their funds. After the bet has been placed, the player must then guess which one is Hit.
- If Miss is picked the dealer gets the bet money.
- If Hit is picked, the player receives three times the bet.
The game continues until either the dealer or player loses their total funds and thus are unable to continue.
Stakes
Midari bets her entire savings of 1.2 billion yen, much to Ayame's shock. Naoe bets the funds belonging to the Beautification Council, 300 million yen.
Game
Due to Naoe cheating, Ayame is initially unable to win and quickly runs out of money. She toughs up and suggests to make a last gamble, betting Midari's social status instead. Midari enthusiastically accepts her idea, saying she will become the housepet of the Beautification Council if they lose. She tells Naoe she will accept any treatment from her, even murder. Naoe is even more fed up with Midari and declares she will gladly take her life. However, she is stopped when Ayame closes her eyes and managed to win.
Aftermath
The other members of the Beautification Council lash out against Naoe for betting the funds of the Council. Naoe is desperate, but Midari shuts them up and offers to pay the necessary fees herself. When Naoe asks her why, Midari answers, "because I'm the President of the Beautification Council" and leaves, making Naoe blush.
