Raba

Raba (ラーバ^?) is a wise man whom Adol first encounters in Darm Tower.

History

Raba is a scholar who came to Esteria 6 months before the start of Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished in order to study its ancient ruins. Unfortunately, while Raba was investigating Darm Tower, monsters appeared. Trapped in the tower, he managed to survive due to help from Dogi and the idol which allows him to vanish from sight.

Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished

Adol encouters Raba in the Darm Tower. He provides some items to help Adol sneak through several traps in the tower.

Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim

Raba appears again in Ys VI: The Ark of Napishtim as the mentor of Ur. He arrived at the island 3 years earlier than Adol did. He is one of the few Eresians trusted by the Rehda tribe.

Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys

While Raba doesn't make a physical appearance in Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys, Adol finds a letter by Raba inside of Darm Tower. The letter gives a warning that the magic of the Black Pearl was sealed away imperfectly and was used to spawn demons.

• He was the only major character from Ys I: Ancient Ys Vanished: Omen who did not appear in its anime adaptation.
• Raba's last name, Solomon (サルモン^?), is mentioned in a letter from him that Adol finds in Ys IV: The Dawn of Ys.
  • The last name originates from the Ys Global Guidebook, an unofficial setting book based on Ys I and II, which completely reimagines the world of Ys and its history. In it, Raba is said to have been the descendant of the seventh Priest of Ys, Priest Solomon, governing "Creation", who was the creator of both Solomon Shrine and Cleria.^[3][4]
