Essence

Essence (理晶 (りしょう) , , Ri-shō^?) is a form of natural energy that can be harnessed by the Eternians in Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. Essence Fragments can be used as currency when Dana is adventuring in the Sanctuary Crypt.

Overview

Essence allows the user to manipulate the laws of nature. One can read the wind, control water and fire, and some rare gifted people can even foresee the future. Eternians who are particularly gifted in outstanding Essence are chosen by the oracle to become candidates for the Maiden of the Great Tree of Origins.
