Summary
Mōryōmaru is shaken by the fire power of the Flaming Tessaiga. Mōryōmaru regrets not consuming both Kinka and Ginka, recognizing that he is now vulnerable to Inuyasha's attacks becuase of the way Kinka's fire calls to Ginka's lightning. In an effort to protect himself and the baby he is hiding Mōryōmaru begins to flee, but is attacked once more by Inuyasha. This attack cracks open Mōryōmaru's shell to reveal the baby and Naraku's heart. Mōryōmaru forces Inuyasha back and makes his escape.
Miroku and Inuyasha begin discussing how this development was most likely not a part of Naraku's plan. They assume that Naraku sent the Nikosen to purify the Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga with his senki, and that he led Mōryōmaru to Kinka and Ginka so that he would eat them to strengthen his shield. They believe he did this with the intention of having Mōryōmaru and Inuyasha be evenly matched so that when they fought they would weaken one another and Naraku could kill them both.
Kagome points out that Kinka being absorbed into Tessaiga was something Naraku probably did not anticipate, and the group agrees that instead of being evenly matched, the Tessaiga is now stronger Mōryōmaru. Inuyasha says that having Kinka's flames in the Tessaiga makes it feel borrowed, and exclaims that the Dragon-Scaled Tessaiga should be his own.
A pair of old men discuss a figure they saw going into the mountain, but have not seen in three days. They are startled by a noise.
Sesshōmaru, Jaken, and Rin are traveling through the mountain, coming upon a group of ogres. The ogres are angry at Sesshōmaru, and claim they will tear him to pieces for killing their companions and invading their homeland. Sesshōmaru faces them with Tenseiga, saying he will turn them into fodder.
