Chapter 518

Orthodoxy (Part 2) (正統派 (後編), Seitōha (Kōhen), "Orthodox Teaching (Continued)") is the five hundred and eighteenth chapter of Initial D.

Plot

Minagawa doubts Keisuke's previous opponents were making the most out of their cars. He believes the race will come down to tire management, and he thinks that he will come out on top due to his professional training.

Fumihiro recalls something Ryosuke had said back when they were preparing to face Tomoyuki Tachi; that he wanted Project D to have two approaches for being the fastest on public roads, hence their two drivers. Ryosuke is surprised by Fumihiro's memory, but he comments that it was so insightful he couldn't forget it. Ryosuke had described Takumi as an unorthodox racer, and Keisuke as a more traditional racer. Fumihiro asks Ryosuke how he thinks Keisuke will do in this race, as the reason he hadn't been chosen to face Tachi was because an unorthodox racer was the best choice to face an orthodox one.
