Chapter 145

Time of the Season... (移りゆく季節の中で, Utsuriyuku Kisetsu no Naka de, "In the changing seasons") is the one hundred and forty-fifth chapter of Initial D.

Plot

Itsuki wonders why Kazumi is back in Gunma, and she says she had to tie up some loose-ends, including saying a proper goodbye to him. Itsuki asks if she's free, and leaves work early. Yuichi understands Itsuki's situation, and Takumi agrees to cover his shift.

Itsuki and Kazumi visit Lake Akina. Itsuki tries to gain the confidence to tell her that he loves her, but she interrupts his thoughts, telling him that she found a job with a family friend. She's glad that coming to Gunma raised her confidence, mostly thanks to Itsuki. She tells him that she's also trying to get her drivers license, so that she won't need anyone's help to get where she wants to go. Hearing her say this, Itsuki can't bring himself to tell her how he feels. After a little bit, Kazumi tells Itsuki that she'd best be going, and he offers to give her a lift to the station.

On the drive down, she's amazed by how red the leaves are on the trees. She says she'll never forget them, and that she won't forget him. Itsuki has to force himself not to cry.

Itsuki sees Kazumi off at the station, and begins to cry when he gets into his car. He wishes that he had told her how much he loved her. He hopes that if they meet again, he'll be a real man, and they can talk like adults.

Itsuki returns to the gas station.
