Chapter 143

As Suddenly As It Began... (予期せぬ幕切れ!!, Yoki Senu Makugire!!, "Unexpected End!!") is the one hundred and forty-third chapter of Initial D.

Plot

Wataru refuses to lose, but the strain of the prolonged race is getting to him. He realises that he's almost out of fuel, and decides to call for a refuelling break after the end of the lap. While he is thinking this, Takumi pulls his Eight-Six alongside him. Wataru is left shocked, as no one would ever think to overtake on the narrow corners of Shomaru. Takumi takes advantage of that disbelief to get past and take the lead, winning him the battle.

At the bus station, Itsuki agonises about how long the race is taking. Kazumi suddenly speaks, telling him that she's decided not to go back to Gunma, meaning they have to end their relationship.
