Yu Jing

Yu Jing is a supporting character in I Love Yoo. She is a former friend of Kousuke Hirahara and an award winning journalist.

She is currently working on a large project related to the Hiraharas that is still shrouded in mystery.

Background

Not much is shared about Yu Jing's background. It is known that she was friends with Kousuke in college and in Episode 134, she tells Nol that Rand inspired her to pursue journalism and that he helped her get where she is now.

In Episode 121 Kousuke notes that Yu Jing used to be more modest in college and in Episode 114, Yu Jing tells Shin-Ae that she used to constantly seek validation from someone.

It is likely that someone who she was close to was harmed by the Hiraharas in some way, causing her to seek revenge.

Personality

Yu Jing has a calm disposition, making it hard to tell exactly what is going on in her mind. She has a manner of speaking that is both quick witted and cryptic. She also is quite cunning, using lots of the characters she interacts with as a way to further the expose she is working on.

Relationships

Kousuke Hirahara

Yu Jing and Kousuke met at school, and were part of the same friend group in college. Their friend group had a turbulent falling out, flashes of which can be seen in Episode 143 and Episode 228.

It appears that they didn't see each other for a while before Episode 90, although they also ran into each other at the formal. As Yu Jing gets more involved around the Hiraharas for a story she is writing, the two run into each other more frequently.

Kousuke is suspicious of Yu Jing, meeting her in Episode 92 in an attempt to find out what she talked about with Shin-Ae, although what she has said still weighs on him, especially in episodes 96 and 122.

Yu Jing enjoys teasing Kousuke, often calling him a variety of pet names, which he dislikes. In Episode 92, she confess that she still feels some resentment towards Kousuke, although in Episode 121 she says that she still views him as a friend.

Shin-Ae Yoo

According to CuriousCat, she was the woman who performed CPR on Shin-Ae at the pool during the formal. During their first official meeting in Episode 74 she gave Shin-Ae fashion advice in the department store. They later met again in Episode 91, when Yu Jing stopped by when she was having dinner with Kousuke and Nol. Later, she questioned Yu Jing about her relationship with Kousuke, something which caused him considerable stress.

Yu Jing also interviewed Shin-Ae in Episode 114 to gain some information about the formal, although Shin-Ae can't provide much. In this episode, as well as Episode 174 it is shown that Shin-Ae considers Yu Jing very attractive.

Hansuke Shishido

Hansuke and Yu Jing were friends in college, and in the same friend group as Kousuke. While they have not seen each other in a while, they don't appear to have any hard feelings for each other, and are quite friendly. Hansuke even invites Yu Jing when he is going out with Kousuke in Episode 121. As of Episode 222, it appears that they may have some sort of "friends with benefits" situation, but this is still unclear.

Randulph Skuli Hirahara

Yu Jing and Rand are shown to have an amicable relationship. In Episode 112, it is shown that Rand asked Yu Jing to interview Nol as a favor. She says that he has done a lot to help her in the past. Additionally, Yu Jing wrote a piece on him in college, and claims that he is why she decided to pursue journalism.

Yeong-Gi/Nol

Yu Jing appears to have met Yeong-Gi prior to Episode 91, as she shows some recognition of him. She interviewed him per the request of Mr. Hirahara, after the events of the formal in episode 112. After he reached out to her, she met him in Episode 134. His actions in episodes 148 and 149 appear to be significant to the story Yu Jing is pursuing.

Yui Hirahara

Yu Jing seems to have some sense about who Yui is and her influence over the other characters. This is shown in Episode 113, when Yu Jing ends her interview with Nol after she learns Yui is there, as well as when she insinuates Yui's manipulation to Meg in Episode 165 and Nol in Episode 239. Kousuke seems to avoid the topic of his friendship with Yu Jing when around Yui.

Megan Cho

In Episode 115, Shin-Ae directs Yu Jing to Meg as someone who can give her details about what happened during the formal. Yu Jing tells Shin-Ae that Meg wasn't fond of her since she was one of Kousuke's female friends and that she "laid some harsh truths on her at some point". However, they went to Alyssa's Christmas performance together.

Manli

Manli is one of Yu Jing's friends, and is likely to be the girl seen with Yu Jing at the formal and department store.
