Early Life
At some point in his life, he married Lynne Bowen. Then sometime in the Summer of 2002 him and Lynne Bowen's son Ricky Bowen was born.
Season One
The Auditions
While trying to cook dinner and failing, his son, Ricky Bowen, suggests they call Lynne Bowen, but Mike stops him and says that she doesn't want to hear from him right now.
The Read-Through
In the middle of the night Mike overhears Ricky watching the first High School Musical to try to learn the moves. Before going back to bed Ricky asks him to hang out with him while he practices and he does.
Blocking
Mike's wife, Lynne Bowen arrives back in Salt Lake City early and reveals to their son, Ricky, that they are getting a divorce. This causes Ricky to feel angry and confused of why his parents are separating.
Homecoming
Since Ricky decides he is going to homecoming with his best friend, Big Red, he motivates his dad to get up from the couch and go on a date. Mike goes on a date at the Salt Lake Bowling Alley, but gets stood up. He then runs into Miss Jenn during her girls night, and begins to grow a romantic interest in her.
What Team?
Mike attends the school council meeting to support Ricky, but he finds out that Miss Jenn is the Drama teacher that may be getting fired. During the meeting, he speaks up for Ricky and Miss Jenn to help her keep her job.
Thanksgiving
Before Mike and Ricky go over to his sister Judy's house for Thanksgiving dinner, Ricky asks if he could go over to Ashlyn's and he says yes.
Opening Night
Mike attends opening night at East High and introduces his ex-wife, Lynne Bowen to Miss Jenn. He supports Ricky throughout act one.

He supports Ricky throughout the rest of opening night.
Season Two
New Year's Eve
On Christmas, Mike reveals to Ricky that they will be moving out of their house to downsize into a smaller house.
Valentine’s Day
Mike hangs out at Salt Lake Slices and runs into Miss Jenn and they catch up.
The Quinceañero
Mike attends Carlos Rodriguez's surprise Qionceañero to support him, as well as to see Miss Jenn. He helps set up the party, and he asks out Miss Jenn on a date.
Yes, And...
Instead of going out for their date, Mike realizes Miss Jenn is swamped with work so he brings the dinner date to her at East High School. After eating they play a game to get to know each other better, and he reveals to her that this is the happiest he's been in a while. At the end of the episode they end up breaking up in order to put Ricky Bowen's feelings first.
Showtime
Mike arrives to opening night at East High School for Ricky and runs into Miss Jenn and they catch up. Mike watches Ricky throughout the entire show and supports him.
Second Chances
Mike's son, Ricky talks to Miss Jenn about second chances and says that "No one should be able to tell anyone who they can or can't take a chance on." He gives Miss Jenn his blessing to take Mike again if she wants to.

Mike goes on a week-long Caribbean cruise with Miss Jenn.
