
The Black Sea is a body of water located between Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Moldova, the Ukraine, Russia, the Republic of Georgia, and Turkey. Regionally speaking, the sea borders the Pontic mountains of northern Asia Minor to the south, the Caucasus to the east, the Crimea to the north, and the Balkans and Thrace to the west. Rivers leading to the Black Sea include the Danube, Dnieper, Rioni, Southern Bug, and Dniester rivers. In 2016, the Black Sea had an area of 168,500 square miles.
