~ Uncle Deadly betraying Tex Richman |
Uncle Deadly is a blue, dragon-like monster wearing a cape in the Muppets franchise. In the 2011 film, he was Tex Richman's former henchman. He was also known as the Phantom.
He is voiced by the late Jerry Nelson, and he is currently voiced by Matt Vogel.
He also returned in the 2015 TV show, The Muppets.
According to Jerry Nelson, Uncle Deadly was his tribute to an actor named John Carradine, whose sometimes hammy performances were a staple of horror films.
Appearances
Deadly occasionally appears in The Muppets Show. But, he didn't appear in The Muppets franchise right before The Muppets Show was cancelled.
After twenty years of absence, Deadly returns in the 2011 Muppets film as the sinister second-in command to Tex Richman. But he later reforms when he betrays Tex Richman.
He also returns for the sequel, Muppets Most Wanted, along with Bobo. In this appearance, he is sitting at a piano memorizing the lyrics on the sheet of paper in front of him. He appears in the gulag finale in the end of the movie.
He also appeared on The Tonight Show in 1979 when Kermit the Frog was the host.
Heroic Acts
- In the 2011 Muppets film, he stopped his former boss, Tex Richman from trying to cut the antenna to the Muppet Theater.
Trivia
- Although Uncle Deadly is normally a neutral character, he was an antagonist in the 2011 film and serves as Tex Richman's assistant, but he later reforms.
