The white blood cell designated U-1146, better known simply as White Blood Cell and Neutrophil, is one of the two main protagonists (alongside AE3803) of the 2015 Japanese biological comedy manga series Cells at Work! and its 2018 anime adaptation of the same name.
U-1146 was one of the many neutrophil white blood cells responsible for the protection of the body of the human he resided in. His responsibilities included killing bacteria, viruses, parasites, and any other debilitating organism that breached the body. In order to defeat his enemies, White Blood Cell wielded bladed weaponry with lethal efficiency and took no small amount of pleasure from executing germs.
In the anime adaptation, White Blood Cell is voiced by Tomoaki Maeno in the Japanese version and by the late Billy Kametz in the English version. The late Kametz's other heroic roles include Josuke Higashikata in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Diamond is Unbreakable, Naofumi Iwatani in The Rising of the Shield Hero, Metal Lee in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations, Ferdinand von Aegir in Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Wilhelm Trias in Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, Naoto Kurogane in BlazBlue, Kyouya Mitsurugi in KonoSuba: God's Blessing on this Wonderful World!, Galo Thymos in Promare, male Hakuno Kishinami in Fate/Extra Last Encore, Blue Oak in Pokémon Masters, and Osomatsu Matsuno in Mr. Osomatsu.
