Phil Cassidy is a major character of 3D Universe Grand Theft Auto Games. Serving as a major character in Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and a minor character in Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories and Grand Theft Auto III.

He was voiced by Hunter Platin and Gary Busey.

Biography

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories

In his first chronological apperance, Phil gets acquainted with Victor Vance through Jerry Martinez. Phil is his weapon dealer. Jerry sends Victor to help Phil deal with some of the Cholos gang members who have taken over his hiding place. Through Phil, Vic gets acquainted with his sister Louise Cassidy-Williams and her husband Marty.

After completing several tasks for Marty and killing him Vic saves Phil from Jerry's people who wanted to kill them (Marked Men). After this incident, Phil swears to Victor that he will be sober from now on; however, he begins to drink again when Armando Mendez kills Louise. Phil, wanting revenge on the Mendez cartel, helps Victor steal Hunter from Fort Baxter by blowing up gate.

In Vice City Stories, Phil has a big facial hair. He shaved it between 1984 and 1986.

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

In his appearance two years later, he is asked to participate in a bank robbery. Phil persuades Tommy Vercetti to take the driver Hilary King to the team. After the bank robbery, Phil invites Tommy to his hiding place to work for him and gain access to his weapons. Then Phil invites Tommy again - this time to check his Boomshine bombs; However, Phil forgot to put the battery into the remote control. Phil walks over to the bomb, inserts the batteries and fires the bomb that explodes, tearing off his left arm. Tommy takes Phil to the doctor.

In this game (as well as the prequel) Phil's voice was provided by Gary Busey, who also played Buck Matthews in the 1986 action film Eye of the Tiger.

Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories

Phil performs episodically in one mission, More Deadly than the Male as a weapon dealer, Toshiko Kasen. The best weapons in this game can be bought from his weapon store, Phil Cassidy's Fully Cocked Gun Shop.

In this game he was voiced by Bradley Whitford.

Grand Theft Auto III

In 2001, Phil is known as the One-Handed Phil. In Comrades' mission, a corrupt policeman, Ray Machowski, wants Claude to go to Phil's store. It is being attacked by members of the Colombian Cartel, they want to steal his weapons. Phil and Claude attack the members of the cartel and kill them. During this mission Phil, ashamed of how stupid he is for losing his arm, tells Claude that he really lost his it during the war in Nicaragua.

In this game, Hunter Platin provided his voice for Phil.
