Miserix is the major anti-hero in the BIONICLE series. He was a Makuta who was an original leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta,though his lieutenant, Makuta Teridax usurped his rule and overthrew him. However, he was saved by Krika from being executed as the latter imprisoned him in Artidax.
During the war between the Order of Mata Nui and the Brotherhood, he was freed by the Order member called Brutaka and his strike team and was currently siding with the Toa and their allies to seek revenge against Teridax for betraying him.
History
Prior of the main event of the history, Makuta Miserix was created by the Great Beings. When Miserix came into being, he was assigned by the Great Spirit Mata Nui to become the ruler of the Brotherhood of Makuta. Later, he also ordered the Brotherhood to create the bio-mechanical creatures called Rahi to populate the entire Matoran Universe.
Five thousand years later, Miserix learned that the Matoran could not afford the trading prices offered by the Vortixx. He summoned both Chirox and Mutran and had them decide on which one could accompany both Makuta Icarax and Pridak in his task of negotation with the Vortixx, which they involved in.
Soon, at that time when Pridak left the Brotherhood of Makuta to form the League of the Six Kingdoms, Miserix ordered Teridax to keep an eye on his activities. In the end, Teridax hired Takadox to watch over Pridak.

In the alternate universe where Mata Nui died because he was not revived by Matoro in time as the entire inhabitants migrated into the island of Mata Nui and formed the new kingdom there, Miserix was not allowed to came into the island since he was a Makuta despite his history. On the other hands, he was most likely to have died in Artidax due to being starved to death as he was chained and unable to move freely. However, he was also the only Makuta to have not killed by Teridax who consumed the other Makuta in order to break his way into Mata Nui.

Personality
Miserix is the fiery leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta who was also quick to anger and was also ill-tempered and was slightly selfish. However, he was very intelligent and cautious as he doesn't allowed any of his emotions to control his actions as he believed that no other Makuta would surpassed him.
He despises Teridax for usurping his rule and overthrowing him and will not stop at nothing on seeking revenge on him. His goal also prompted him of allying himself with the Toa and Matoran to destroy Teridax.
Powers & Abilities
Being the leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta, Miserix possesses both the sheer strength and an uncanny intelligence. Like the other Makuta, he also possessed the Shadow element as he can manipulated the Shadow and can even shoot out dark fireballs from his mouth. His signature weapon was the bladed staff which he can used for combat and even channeled his Shadow element.
His Mask of Mutation also enabled him to directly mutate the other creatures and beings around him and only he can reversed the effect. He also possesses 24 Kraata powers.
He also have the ability to shapeshift into the reptilian form as he was capable of transforming himself into his dragon form.

- Miserix's model was created by Sarah Newkirk and was the winner of the Makuta building contest in 2008.
- His draconic form resembles the Chinese dragon of the Chinese mythology.
- Interestingly, the Chinese Dragon represented the symbol of power, strength and luck of the people. It also represented the imperial might of the Chinese emperors of China, which inspired Miserix as the powerful leader of the Brotherhood of Makuta.
- His name also derived from the word 'misery'.
- So far, Miserix and the Alternate Teridax are the two surviving Makuta in the series.
