Lucy Eldred is the main protagonist of the science-fiction thriller manga and anime series The Darwin Incident. She is a high school student who befriends with the human-chimpanzee hybrid "humanzee" Charlie Stein.
Appearance
Lucy is a regular-looking teenage girl with medium-length brown hair of shoulder-length. Thought in some appearances, her hair is drawn into a darker tone. On occassions, she ties her hair into a knot at the back of her head.
Personality
Lucy conducts herself like most of her age. She can be seen as a friendly and rational girl who gives Charlie a sense of having friends and blending into society. Althought she has a few friends, she frequently spends her time alone, especially after she got along alongside Charlie, unlike the rest of the school. After hearing of rumors of Charlie's connections to terrorists that have appeared around the city, Lucy is shown to be extremely caring for Charlie. Lucy is shown to be brave, keeping her calm when Gare pointed his gun at her during the school shooter. Lucy also notes that she is surprised by how she was not as shocked or impacted by the school shooting that took place at their school to Charlie, claiming that she is perhaps a bit cold-hearted. She is extremely bold, as shown by her action of filming the police officer Phil when the latter pointed his gun at her and Charlie's family and when she pulled out the finger at a group of men confronted Charlie's parents at their house after she collided into one of them with her bicycle.
Trivia
- She can be seen to wear a hoodie of the P**n Hub logo in the early chapters of the series.
- Charlie's father claims that her nickname Kaleidoscope Eye Girl given by Max is a reference to the Beatles's 1967 song Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, where the words "kaleidoscope eyes" is being said in the lyrics.
