Katsuya Honda is one of the two overarching protagonists (alongside Kyoko Honda) of the manga/anime series Fruits Basket and the deuteragonist of the 2022 anime film Fruits Basket -prelude-. He is the late father of Tohru Honda and husband of Kyoko Honda.
He is voiced by Yoshimasa Hosoya in the Japanese version and J. Michael Tatum in the English version.
Appearance
He has black hair and black eyes.
Personality
Biography
He is a student teacher when he met Kyoko Honda who he helped leave her previous lifestyle. He left student teaching and married Kyoko, despite the eight-year age gap.
Katsuya, who had apparently had a rebellious childhood, admitted that he had fallen in love with Kyoko because she had been able to cry and confess to being lonely, which he wasn't able to do. Later they married after she finished middle school. When Kyoko told him she was pregnant and had doubts as to whether she could properly raise a child, he assures her that they will take care of the baby together, as a real family.
A short time later, when Tohru was three years old, he died of pneumonia and his death caused Kyoko to almost kill herself.
