Furnace Golems

The furnace golem is a fierce mob, smashing its enemies into the air and scorching the earth with its fiery attacks. Don't be scared though! It will protect you from hostile mobs that lurk in the darkness.
~ The Furnace Golem's journal entry.

The Furnace Golems were minor characters of the augmented reality mobile game, Minecraft Earth.

They are a variant of the Iron Golems, defending the players from hostile mobs. They have 50 hearts (or 100 hit-points,) and have the ability to set their target on fire.

Appearance

They appear to be a more mechanized version of Iron Golems. Their design is themed around their blast furnace chest, having a dark gray and beige color scheme. Their furnace and eyes seem to always be lit, but can fully ignite once performing an attack.

Obtaining

Furnace Golems were obtained in stone tappables, having an extremely rare 0.9% chance of dropping. Unlike the Iron Golem, they can't be spawned by placing blocks and a pumpkin in a T-shape.

Behaviour

Like their vanilla cousins, the Furnace Golem attacks any hostile mob in its vicinity, their eyes and furnace igniting while pursuing the target. Their attacks have a chance to light their target on fire, hence their blast furnace. While attacking, they can light nearby blocks on fire, which makes them dangerous around flammable builds.

Similar to how Iron Golems give out poppies, Furnace Golems hand out torches to players. They randomly do this if the player looks at them in a certain angle. They are passive when spawned by the player, but neutral if they naturally spawn.

Unlike Iron Golems, they take damage while in water, similar to Blazes and Snow Golems.

Trivia

  • Furnace Golems are actually the second fire variant of the Iron Golem. In Minecraft: Story Mode - Season 2, Magma Golems appear as hostile enemies in Romeo's Challenge, including a massive giant as a boss.
  • The Furnace and Melon Golems are the only golems exclusive to Minecraft Earth.
