Mimzy is a short and plump sinner demon with very pale-lilac skin, pink rosy cheeks, and platinum-blonde hair kept into a 1920s-style bob cut, with paler-colored streaks.
Her eyes have pie eye-cut cerise pupils, black sclera, silver-like colored eyelids, and dark magenta bushy eyelashes. Her mouth has black lips and sharp, pink-outlined pale yellow teeth inside. She also has a beak-shaped nose.
On the back of her right shoulder, she appears to have a cerise Mammon tattoo.
Mimzy wears 1920s-style clothing which consists of a maroon-pink flapper dress with pale yellow-and-black detailing, resembling film tape, along with most of the bottom part colored in a striped-mauve and the hem being tattered. Along with her dress, she also wears both maroon opera gloves and heels.
She accessorizes with a black pearl necklace with a cerise gem in the middle, and a black headband with a pair of feathers colored in two shade of maroon with yellow dots, held by a cerise oval-shaped gem.
Personality
Mimzy is a bratty, materialistic diva,[4] who appears to have many self-centered traits that the people around her react strongly to. She appears to conflict with other strong personalities.
As seen in "Dad Beat Dad", Mimzy is very thirsty for attention and self-centered, bursting into the hotel in the middle of Alastor and Lucifer's duet. According to Husk, Mimzy only comes around when she is need of something, which is proven true as she owed some loan sharks money, hiding in the hotel to let Alastor deal with them.
Mimzy also assumes that others will clean up her own messes. Aside from all her rude traits, she cares at least a little bit for her friends, even hugging Alastor and being friendly to the hotel staff.
She has been described as larger than life ambitious, and determined, as well as insecure, sad, depressed, and consumed by the need to be famous.[note 1]
Abilities
Immortality - As a Sinner, Mimzy is biologically immortal, being unable to die from illnesses and unable to age, remaining the same age as when she died, thus can not die of old age and other natural causes. She also cannot die from any kind of damage to the body, and will recover from any injury, however, she can only be permanently killed with angelic weaponry.
Confetti generation - She can generate confetti, as shown when she introduced herself at the end of Hell's Greatest Dad.
Skillset
Singing - Mimzy is shown to be a talented singer.
Dancing - Mimzy is shown to be a dancer.
Driving - She is capable of driving, but she can be reckless as she crashed her car into a loan shark's girlfriend.
Agility - She is agile enough to jump from a medium-high location, such as the top of the stair railing in the Hotel.
History
Past
Little is known about her human life except that she was a performer at a club and was in the same circles and good friends with Alastor, who would frequent her club.[5] She died sometime in the 1920s.[1]
In the afterlife, she would continue to be friends with Alastor, mainly visiting him to get her out of any trouble she got herself into again. At an unknown time, she met Husk and Niffty.[5]
After she borrowed fifty grand from some loan sharks, she came to the Hotel for Alastor's help, interrupting an argument between Alastor and Lucifer and singing about herself. She hugged Alastor, and then greeted Lucifer.
While Alastor, Charlie, and Vaggie took Lucifer on a tour of the Hotel, Mimzy went to the bar and met Angel Dust and Sir Pentious, asking for a drink from Husk. When Angel Dust and Sir Pentious ask how she knows Alastor so well and what Alastor actually is, she tells them his backstory in Hell and that he is just a total sweetie. She asks for another drink from Husk, but as he had left she was confused and irritated.
When the loan sharks began to attack the Hotel looking for her, Alastor steps in and stops them. Mimzy is happy that he got her out of trouble but Alastor tells her to leave since she caused chaos and damage to the Hotel, and confused and mad, she leaves out of spite.
Alastor and Mimzy get along well due to knowing each other in their human lives, with Alastor a recurring patron at the bar Mimzy sang at. Alastor is highly tolerant of Mimzy and very close to her, going so far as sharing a hug with Mimzy despite his general distaste for touch. She says that, even though Alastor is mysterious creature who is evil on the outside overall, he becomes a "kitten" when you play jazz and pour some fingers of rye. However, Alastor does dislike when Mimzy deliberately brings danger to the Hotel just for him to clean up her mess, as shown in "Dad Beat Dad" where he tells Mimzy to leave since she caused damage to the Hotel. As Husk says, she brings trouble to Alastor to clean up many times.
Due to Alastor having acquired Husk's soul in the past and their long "partnership" since then, Mimzy is familiar with Husk and has known him for a long time. As shown, despite their long acquittance, Husk dislikes Mimzy deeply, having stated to not be happy to see her when she showed up in the hotel. As shown, Husk is fully aware of Mimzy's selfish personality and how she only goes to Alastor when she needs something or needs him to clean up the messes she creates. With Husk implying that she had caused numerous problems in the past and dragged Alastor, and by extension Husk, into them to clean them up.
Due to her long friendship with Alastor, Mimzy has also known Niffty for a long time, similar to Husk. In "Dad Beat Dad", Mimzy asks her how she's doing, which Niffty responds creepily about the nature of her killing the bugs.
Enemies
Loan Sharks
At some point, she got involved with a bunch of loan sharks and borrowed $50,000 from them and stole a car and crashed it into a loan shark's girlfriend, eventually getting in trouble and making her go to Alastor for help.
Faustisse notes that Mimzy is materialistic.[note 3]
Mimzy has a tattoo on her right shoulder blade depicting the same logo shown on the many T-shirts worn by Fizzarolli and other imps during the events of the Helluva Boss episode "MAMMON'S MAGNIFICENT MUSICAL MID-SEASON SPECIAL (ft Fizzarolli)". This could indicate that Mimzy is associated with or in favor of Mammon.
Development
According to Vivziepop, Mimzy is a flapper girl that she vaguely based on a chicken, which is why she gave her a tiny beaky nose.[6]
During Mimzy's development, across ZooPhobia and early drafts of Hazbin Hotel, she was "head over heels in love" with Alastor, and early illustrations depicted the two in a romantic relationship.[7][8] This element of their dynamic has since been moved on from, with Alastor being re-written as uninterested in all forms of romance.
Faustisse has the opinion that Mimzy's crush on Alastor is a "joke that will never die".[note 4]
When asked about Mimzy's connection to Alastor for the current series, Vivziepop felt that Mimzy and Alastor had known each other when they were living, giving their familiarity as the reason for their good relationship in the hotel.[9] Furthermore, when asked about Alastor and Mimzy, Vivziepop stated the two of them would get along due to them having a similar timeframe that they existed in.[10] This element was carried through in "Dad Beat Dad".
Vivziepop also described Alastor as finding Mimzy extremely charming, although he is the only one who apparently sees this in her, as she is "absolutely terrible" to everyone else and this causes them to dislike her.[11]
During 2017 development streams for the pilot, Vivziepop noted that Mimzy's entrance into the show was planned to mark a "turning point" in the season.[4]
When asked if Mimzy was planned to be a main character, Vivziepop said that when she joins, she's likely to be more central than Baxter or Crymini. She also said she's an easier character to write stories for than Crymini or Baxter.[12]
Vivziepop envisioned Mimzy as having a heavy Brooklyn-accent, similar to Adelaide from the musical Guys and Dolls and Roxie Hart from Chicago.[14]
Vivziepop has described Mimzy as "trashy Betty Boop" and says she is excited to get the character on the show, as Alastor finds her incredibly charming and fun, while she is "absolutely terrible" to everyone else, causing them to all dislike her.[14]
In several of Vivziepop's development illustrations, it appears as though Mimzy and Niffty might have something of a friendship,[15] although it is unclear if their relationship is planned to become a feature of the show.
Faustisse does not believe that Mimzy and Niffty are best friends, but thinks they get along.[note 5]
