Parrots are birds that can be found in tropical and subtropical regions.
History
The disgraced American witch Dorcus Twelvetrees had nothing but a parrot and mirror for company in her later years.[4]
In 1926, several parrots were kept in the Central Park Zoo of New York.[1]
When the phoenix Pyra flew into Muggle London, a station guard at King's Cross Station mistook her for a giant red parrot.[5]
At some point prior to the 1990–1991 school year, Billingsley once transfigured himself into a parrot, which his niece remembered.[6]
At some time in or before 1991, Dudley Dursley possessed a parrot, which he swapped for a real live air rifle. The birdcage in which the parrot was kept was moved to The Smallest Bedroom.[3]
Just before Professor McGonagall announced the Yule Ball in late 1994, Harry Potter and Ron Weasley were having a sword fight with a couple of trick wands in Transfiguration, where Ron's turned into a tin parrot.[7]
Behind the scenes
- In LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7, the bird that Draco Malfoy hides and Harry Potter and Ginny Weasley later finds in the Vanishing Cabinet in the Room of Requirement is a parrot,[2] instead of a songbird like in the book and film.
