Taruka is a fictional character from ∀ Gundam television series.

History

Taruka was chosen by the Adeskan people to challenge King Quoatl and become the new king. However, he lost his nerve and was unable to follow through, being too afraid of carrying the burden of his people. When he stood across from Quoatl on the altar, Quoatl turns his back and leaves instead of fighting him - an action that is seen as cowardly and angers the Adeskan people.

He was first seen leading an insurrection against Quoatl. He locked him up and tried to force him into a duel, using Loran and the others as hostages. However, they all escape due to the efforts of Joseph and Mayalito. Taruka chases them down but is quickly captured. He insults Quoatl for being cowardly, but is scolded by Mayalito for being the real coward and learns that Quoatl only 'fled' in order to give him time to gather his courage.

Afterwards, he decides to help Quoatl and the others destroy the turrets. Quoatl is fatally wounded while helping Loran and realises his death is imminent. He takes off his mask and demands that Taruka kill him and become the new king. Taruka shoots the bag of explosives which is being help up with Quoatl and Mayalito, killing them both and destroying the turret. He then tearfully puts the headpiece on and becomes the new king. At the end of the episode, he shows Loran the Ades branch.

He witnesses the rail of the Mass Driver and thanks Loran for protecting Adeska. He questions if he will be able to live up to Quoatl's legacy
