Past is the Phase-20 of Mobile Suit Gundam SEED Destiny. It first aired in Japan on March 5, 2005 and in North America on July 27, 2007.

Summary

A recap episode explaining the events of the series and part of unexplained events in Orb from Gundam SEED, from Shinn Asuka's point of view.

Plot

Recounts up till Shinn relocates to the PLANTs.The last war began when Shinn was 14. At the time, Shinn and his family had emigrated to the neutral nation Orb and had led calm everyday lives despite the war. But with the progress of the battle, wartime was approaching even to Orb. Seeing that the odds were against them, the Earth Alliance repeatedly requested Orb for assistance. But Orb refused believing in their neutral ideology and the negotiations were broken off. The Alliance’s fleet starts the attack to Orb, and Shinn lost his family by this attack in the blink of an eye.

Shinn clenches his sister Mayu’s cellphone and sobs violently. It was Orb’s officer Todaka who gently called out to him.

Afterward, the scene of the war moved out into space and eventually a peace treaty had been signed. Since Shinn had no relatives, Todaka arranged things so that he can relocate in the PLANTs. Shinn then eventually joined ZAFT, so that he can obtain power and that nobody could never take what is precious to him.
