Penaud is a French automotive manufacturer featured in Grand Theft Auto Online as part of the San Andreas Mercenaries update.
Influence
The brand appears to be based on Renault due to its only vehicle, the La Coureuse, resembling a Renault car. Its logo, which resembles an interconnected P and D for PenauD, also resembles a slanted Renault logo.
The word penaud is French for sheepish, ashamed, or cowardly.

- Several days after the La Coureuse was released for GTA Online, RenaultUK issued a witty response on X (formerly Twitter), to a post by Rockstar Games that had heralded the vehicle's debut. In a humorous vein, they inquired whether the recently released vehicle happened to be their very own Renault R5 Turbo.[1]
- The following month, Renault France quote-posted Rockstar Games' announcement post with a collage featuring snapshots of the Renault R5 Turbo alongside the prominent French rugby player Damian Penaud, titled "Grand Theft Penaud" in the style of Grand Theft Auto box art. The image was captioned "for us, there is only one Penaud".[2]
