“For scouting and battlefield observations, the Radiant is designed with omnidirectional sensors to see for long distances and over high terrain. Mobile radio towers, these units can be upgraded to employ stealth technology, as well as detected.” — Singleton[1] |
The Radiant is a Goo ground unit.
The Radiant's pair of omni-directional eyes are adept at scouting enemy positions and spotting units on high terrain, making its primary feature its strongest asset.
Background
Originally, the Radiant recorded data on geological patterns, studying plate tectonics and minerals within the ground. While the large orbs on the top of the Radiant's stalks are called eyes, they actually don't see like a Human eye does. Instead, the Radiant "sees" variances in earth vibrations, as well as changes to mineral consistency and density. Today, the Radiant uses its unique vision to detect enemy movements in a large area around itself, even on high terrain.
Overview
Originally designed to gather data from geological surveys, the Radiant’s purpose has not changed much as the Goo evolved. It operates as the primary scouting unit, utilizing its omni-directional eyes to see a good distance in all directions, and even up onto high terrain.
Tips
- Best used as a scout, Radiants deal little damage, but have a large sight range and are fairly quick.
- Radiants are able to see into brush and onto high terrain, allowing them to expose lurking enemies.
- A variety of upgrades can be applied to Radiants to allow them to enhance their abilities and expand their strategic use.
