Yoshiko (よしこ Yoshiko) is a recurring boss in the Parodius series.
Description
Yoshiko is a giant, (presumably) female Moai head wearing heavy makeup and with large and round earrings.
In Otomedius Gorgeous, she is the empress of Easter Island, a weird society of sentient Moai statues. The Gofer Sisters tend to go to Yoshiko only when they want a distraction. The alliance is tentative, and seems to be based entirely on centuries of the Moai being used by Bacterians as weapons emplacements.
Attack patterns
In Parodius Da! and Gokujō Parodius!, Yoshiko acts as the end boss of the Moai Battleship stage, and confronts the player after they make it past this vessel. She attacks by shooting out Yoshios, horizontal moai-shaped homing missiles. After every few of these, she shoots out a long one, which can be avoided by moving opposite to her. Her weak point is her eye.
In Otomedius Gorgeous, Yoshiko is a boss in Stage 4 and is exclusively acquired through downloadable content. Unlike in the Parodius series, her weak point is now her mouth (like the rest of Moai bosses in Gradius series). Her attacks are derived from Alpha/Omega from Gradius IV. She summons four color-coded white Moai heads which represent four kind of attacks:
- Red: Shoots a series of ion rings
- Blue: Shoots a beam aimed at the player
- Yellow: Releases obstacles that are provided to avoid getting hit by her eye beam
- Purple: Shoots both the ion rings and the mouth beam at once

- Her movements in Gokujō Parodius! are similar to those of the Armored Saint in Nemesis 3, although her attack patterns are different.
