Idaho

Idaho is the sixth track of Gorillaz' sixth studio album The Now Now.

Background

The song is based on Damon's experiences in Idaho while he stayed at Bruce Willis' ski lodge.

Idaho was the first song from The Now Now to be revealed. It was first played live on the 30th of September, 2017, on the Humanz Tour in Seattle. It was originally titled Ode to Idaho and it featured different lyrics than the finished version of the song.[1]

A visualiser featuring aperances from 2-D, Russel, Noodle and Ace was uploaded to YouTube on June 29, 2018.

Lyrics

[Verse 1]

I landed on the silver lake washed up and feeling blue
Heard the sound of footsteps drifting softly to the moon
Looking for clear water I had to take control
Out there in the wilderness another bullet hole

[Pre-Chorus]

Playing it all for gods
Yesterday

[Chorus]

Idaho, Idaho
There's a beauty on the road
Everyday I look out on the bus
Silver linings getting lost

[Verse 2]

Floated out into the woods to hear the old elk call
Touched a rainbow with my hands I'm dry, I got 'em all
"Ride on," said the king of cool, "You've got nothing to lose
Tinseltown is down the road it's the bullet of the noose"

[Pre-Chorus]

If you're playing it all for gods
Far away

[Chorus]

Idaho, Idaho
There's a beauty on the road
But everyday I look out on the bus
Silver linings getting lost
