Gondoa is a location as seen in film Castle in the Sky. One of the film's main protagonists, Sheeta was born here.
In the film, there are two flashbacks taking place in the valley. The first is an instance of narration, showing Sheeta wandering out from her home, accompanied by several beasts of burden, as she tells Pazu where she's from and what happened to her. When she explains that a group of men came and took her away, she is shown watching in confusion as Muska and three of his fellow agents approach the home from lower in the valley. Later, when Sheeta is a prisoner at Fort Tedus, there is another flashback in which a younger, weeping Sheeta wanders home through the fields (the implication perhaps being that she got lost or a bit hurt). Her grandmother comforts her, and teaches her a spell to help her when she's in trouble.
Later after the destruction of Laputa, Sheeta and Pazu wave to Dola and her gang since they have the treasure from the castle and say goodbye, and Pazu had retire to become a miner of his town as she returned to her home along with Pazu.
Although Gondoa's real world inspiration has never been revealed, its architecture shares striking similarities with ancient Svan towers, from region Svaneti in Georgia, with a matching snowy mountainous landscape.
