Personality

Enjin has a bright, fun personality most of the time. He is not incredibly high energy either, seeming to be quite chilled and laid back. Enjin refers to himself as “just your average janitor”, showing he’s pretty humble despite his incredible abilities.

Enjin's name was given to him by someone who he states he "owes a lot to". He goes on to describe how his name is derived from an ancient word meaning "fated one", and he seems to take pride in this title. As the fated one, he feels that it is his responsibility to act as a symbol that brings everyone together, and he further attributes this trait to his umbrella, which stands out from the crowd and serves as beacon to those who may be lost.

Abilities

Overall Skill Level: Enjin is a highly skilled and experienced Cleaner. He is seen destroying multiple Trash beast with incredible ease thanks to his Vital Instrument.[4] He is also the leader of team Akuta.

Enhanced Speed: Enjin is incredibly fast, as shown when he destroyed multiple Trash Beast in the blink of an eye.[5]

Enhanced Strength: Enjin has incredible physical strength, being able to send Jabber Wonger crashing into a wall with tremendous force.[6] He was also capable of drilling a giant hole inside of an enormous flying Trash Beast.[7]

Social Skills: Enjin is good in interacting with people; he helped Riyo through her traumatic past as a hitman and was able to convince her to stop killing,[8] he helped Zanka after feeling down about being inferior to Hyo[9] and counsel Rudo when he was feeling guilty about hurting Amo.[10] Even with how skilled he is, Enjin still finds Kuro difficult to talk to and even describes him as a “pain in the tuchus” which surprised Eishia who acknowledged Enjin’s skills in the field.

Vital Instrument

Vital Instrument
Umbreaker: Enjin’s weapon is an umbrella that can be used as a shield, to float in the air, and he can also spin it at high speeds to act as a drill.[11]
Umbreaker “Octa-Shredder”: Enjin drops to the ground in a tear shape form from a high altitude with his Vital Instrument to cause a devastating attack. [12]
Long-Range Spinning Umbrella: Enjin can rapidly spin Umbreaker using a long wire, allowing him to fight at a long distance.[13]

Equipment

Unknown
Unknown: An item Enjin carries in his bag, used only in emergencies, which he considered using to escape from the Raiders' Trash Beast before being interrupted by Guita. No information about the item is currently known.[14]

Relationships

Rudo: Enjin and Rudo initially didn't have a good impression with each other. Enjin initially whispered to Rudo to never alert the trash beasts around them but after getting fed up with the boy's impatient and rude attitude, Enjin blew up, angrily told him that they're above ground, the garbage is from the sky, and to "shut the hell up", adding that they're now spotted by the Trash Beast thanks to him. Although Rudo is momentarily awed by Enjin defeating the Trash Beasts, his opinion of the man quickly soured when Enjin tied him in chains, where Rudo proceeded to rudely and angrily question Enjin, still in his revenge-filled state. The relentless presumptions quickly got on Enjin's nerves, where he proceeds to teach Rudo a lesson for "what it's like here in the ground", leaving him with slave traders.

Enjin was amused by seeing how he would manage to escape from a bunch of slave traders, after that incident he took Rudo with him and made him a new member of the Cleaners from the Ground. Since then, they have a close relationship, with Enjin acting as Rudo's mentor and an older brother figure often giving him reassurance, giving Rudo some advice about his position and how to use his powers as a giver. Right after beating up Amo; Rudo and Enjin share an honest and deep talk in which Rudo opens up and confesses his fear of not being capable of changing as a person, and Enjin gives him advice and his support, offering his help to make him grow and mature.

Zanka: Enjin sat next to the well Zanka was residing in, giving him an inspiring pep talk about his worth. The Hell Guard trainee quickly saw him as inspiration, holding Enjin in high regard. When Enjin compliments Zanka, he freaks out. Enjin is often seen squinting his eyes, or being generally confused by Zanka's sudden emotions when this happens. Among the Cleaners, Enjin and Zanka are shown to be great work partners, with Enjin having nothing but faith in Zanka's abilities and personal journey.

Trivia

  • Likes: tobacco, people who fiercely battle with all they’ve got[15]
  • Dislikes: Rain, troublesome childish women[16]
  • In-universe, Enjin's name stems from an expression in an ancient language. In Japanese, he uses the phrase "person who connects others" (縁の人 En no Hito) to explain the meaning of his name - taking away the hiragana particle no and using another reading of the second kanji, jin, results in Enjin (縁人).
