Season 1

Season 1 is the first season of the Netflix original series First Kill. On October 15, 2020, Netflix ordered the young adult vampire series based on The Short Story with the same name by New York Times best-selling author Victoria Schwab, who serves as creator, writer, and executive producer.[1] It was released on June 10, 2022, on Netflix.

The intro song is "The Zombie Song" by Stephanie Mabey from the album "Wake up Dreaming".

On August 2, 2022, Netflix officially announced its cancelation of First Kill. It cited "a matter of viewing numbers versus cost".[2]

Synopsis

When it's time for teenage vampire Juliette to make her first kill so she can take her place among a powerful vampire family, she sets her sights on a new girl in town named Calliope. But much to Juliette's surprise, Calliope is a vampire hunter, from a family of celebrated slayers. Both find that the other won't be so easy to kill and, unfortunately, way too easy to fall for...

Short summary

Juliette, a born vampire, has a crush on a classmate in high school named Calliope. But she has a bigger problem - since she hasn't yet killed a human she suffers from temporary severe physical symptoms that are getting worse. The medicine, a pill with blood, is starting to lose its effect. Her parents and sister try to coerce her to commit her first kill but she doesn't want to harm others. Unbeknownst to Juliette, her crush Calliope is the youngest daughter in a family of monster hunters. She is the only one in her family that hasn't killed a monster yet since she failed her first try. When she goes with her brothers on a mission she is on lookout duty. She starts to suspect that Juliette is a monster and manages to both find her blood pills and trick her into touching silver, confirming her suspicions. Calliope sneaks out to go to a party that Juliette invited her to hunt her. They end up kissing inside a pantry and after Juliette gets lost in the moment and bites her, Calliope stabs her.

In the meantime, Cals family (Talia, Apollo and Theseus Burns) behead a Shambler that was looking for an item in their house. It turns out Apollo took it home with him on a hunt and he has to clean up the mess, including meeting with Clayton Cook and explain what happened. Talia catches Cal as she gets home and the following morning Cal shows her how she stabbed Juliette. She is concerned that Juliette collapsed but didn't turn to dust and it turns out she is a legacy vampire, a stonger type that can walk in daylight and its not known how to kill them. At the party, after a short blackout Ben (Juliette's best friend) stumbles over the dead body of their classmate Ashley. Juliette was passed out in the pantry but wakes up and sneaks home. Her mother catches her but when she sees blood on her mouth she assumes she did her first kill and Juliette doesn't correct her. Her sister Elinor and her father, who is the DA in town, clean up the mess (thinking her first kill was Ashley) but Elinor gets suspicious that Jules even did it due to the brutality of the kill.

Casting

On March 10, 2021, Sarah Catherine Hook & Imani Lewis joined the series as the leads.[3] May 27, 2021, Elizabeth Mitchell, Aubin Wise, Jason Robert Moore, Gracie Dzienny, Will Swenson, Phillip Mullings Jr., Dominic Goodman, Dylan McNamara, MK xyz, Jonas Dylan Allen, and Roberto Mendez had joined the show's cast.[4][14]

Filming

On March 10, 2021, it was announced that the series was set to begin production later in 2021 in Georgia.
