Aileen

Aileen is a minor character from the Fire Emblem: Hasha no Tsurugi manga and the late love of Kilmar who died prior to the events of the manga. A kind woman whom Kilmar cherished deeply, her death leaves him disillusioned and cynical.

Profile

Little is known about Aileen save for that she lived with Kilmar in village situated in the Western Isles.

Prior to the events of the manga, Aileen and Kilmar is seen sitting under a tree as she tends to his wounds, all the while chastising him for always returning to her injured. Aileen further states her worry for him after Kilmar wonders aloud whether or not he could promise her to ever return uninjured. Despite her concern, Kilmar affirms that he will continue to fight for their dream of peace and tranquility, to which Aileen says such sweet words don't suit him

Some time later their village is attacked by the Dragon Ain, with Kilmar finding Aileen under the rubble of a fallen house. Just barely alive Aileen uses her last moments to thank Kilmar for having a place for her in his dreams. Having lost faith in his own strength and shaken by her death, Kilmar builds Aileen a grave in the nearby graveyard, laying his sword to rest alongside her before disappearing.

After having been freed from the Etrurian Mines alongside the manga's protagonist Al, Kilmar returns to the graveyard, now the hideout of the Wester Isles Resistance. While visiting Aileen's grave, the graveyard is attacked by the forces of Arcard who had managed to located the Resistances base. During the battle, Kilmar saves the daughter of Mancel, a member of the resistance, from the Berserker "One Strike Zapper" but in the process Aileen's grave is destroyed, leading Kilmar's sword to come flying out. Perceiving this as a sign from Aileen to keep fighting, Kilmar fells Zapper in a single strike. When the child thanks him, Kilmer sees a vision of Aileen, filling him with new resolve.

It is mentioned in Kilmar's ending that he contracted an incurable illness and upon his death, journey to Aileen's side.

Personality

Very little is actually shown of Aileen. What is shown depicts her as a caring woman, always worrying about Kilmar and his safety as neither know what the future may hold. She is also playful with him, poking fun at him when he speaks of fighting for their dream, saying that words like that don't fit him. Truly loving him, she was happy by his side and knowing that she had a place in his dreams for the future.
