Murry is a Mister Handy vendor at the Trading Post in Skyline Valley in Fallout 76, introduced in the Skyline Valley update.
Background
Murry was discovered by a group of traders who decided to keep the robot as a tool, although their leader, James, came to consider Murry as a friend.[1] Murry was among the traders who plied their wares at the Trading Post in Skyline Valley, with the Mister Handy specializing in crafting his own maple syrup from the large tree in the center of the settlement.[2] When the Vault 63 weather machine was activated for a second time in 2105, creating a giant storm over the region, most, if not all, of the trade in the region stopped in the aftermath. Although they suffered no direct damage, the traders slowly abandoned their post for greener pastures, due to the poor conditions from the storm.[3][4] The last few to stubbornly remain were the leader James and his lover Jewel, as well as the mechanic, Wesley, while Murry stuck around due to his programming.
Jewel was the first to leave, mulling over the decision for some time before leaving a note for James. In her note she outlined that there was nothing left for them there,[5] deciding that she would head back north into Appalachia.[6] While James came to the realization that his stubbornness and refusal to leave was causing both his family and trading business to deteriorate, at the same time, the mechanic Wesley was growing weaker due to illness. James chose to stay behind until Wesley's illness subsided, but Wesley encouraged James to leave him behind and go after the woman he loved.[7] It was at this time that James passed the leadership of the Trading Post to Murry, before departing.[1][8]
Unbeknownst to them, Murry had unintentionally been poisoning Wesley. While Murry believed that he was hydrating Wesley with boiled water to treat his illness,[7] it was actually toxic water, which eventually directly led to Wesley's death.[9] With Wesley "indisposed,"[10] no mechanic was available to give Murry a maintenance tune-up, making the Mister Handy incapable of recognizing Wesley's demise, incorrectly computing that he was just sleeping.[11] Murry's state of disrepair has also led to a memory read error causing him to stutter in his speech.[12][13]
Both James and Jewel eventually died elsewhere in Skyline Valley, having never reunited, leaving Murry as the only survivor of the Trading Post's founders.[3] In his final note, James encouraged anyone who found his body to visit the Trading Post to tell Wesley and Murry that he was sorry.[14] If the Vault 76 dwellers attempt to repair Murry, they will temporarily restore his memory and fix his stuttering issue. The realization that everyone at the Trading Post is dead causes Murry to panic, before mentioning that his programming dictates self-preservation. As a result, Murry will undo the changes and revert to his unaware, stuttering state once more, intentionally keeping himself isolated from the truth.[15]

Other interactions
- Blast zone: Should a nuke be dropped anywhere in the Skyline Valley region, prompting the event Neurological Warfare, Murry will comment on it.[16]
- Murry has three potential dialogue options to attempt to repair his memory read error, which will appear with the following conditions:
- Master Hacker is equipped[12]
- Robotics Expert is equipped[17]
- Intelligence of 1 (must be 1 exactly, without any buffs)[18]
- In each option, after a brief dialogue, Murry's error will be repaired, correcting his stutter and temporarily making him aware of his surroundings, including the fact that everyone is dead. Distraught, he will mention his programming's need for self-preservation, causing him to undo the changes to his memory banks, reverting him to his unaware, stuttering error state.[15]
- These dialogue options can each only be used once. However, using one does not lock the player out of using another, meaning that they can fix Murry's error three times, only for him to undo it in the same fashion each time.

- "Late night s-shopping eh? Have no fear, the s-store is never closed! What do you n-need?"

- "S-salutations! Welcome to our l-little trading post. How can I, Murry, be of s-service today?"
Behind the scenes
- At one point during development, Murry was known as Marco. His voice type (editor ID: Storm_Robot_Murry) still uses the actor name Marco and many dialogue scenes in the files use the name Marco instead of Murry.
- The low Intelligence dialogue option of the player striking Murry to try and fix him is described in the script notes as hitting him "like a jukebox." This is a reference to the character Fonzie from the television series Happy Days, who would famously hit a jukebox to make it turn on.[18]
