"WHO TREADS ON THESE GROUNDS?" ― Cat God
Cat God, also formatted as CAT GOD, is a character in Everhood and Everhood 2. In Everhood, they are a secret boss that can be fought in New Game+. After completing Everhood 2, they appear in the gauntlet of the Battle Colosseum, releasing a powerful hairball from their mouth.
Characteristics
Appearance
Cat God is a glowing silhouette of a three-eyed cat head, with psychedelic eyes, a wide grin, and a wide nose. When angered or killed, they open their mouth wide, to reveal sets of teeth.
Personality
Cat God gives the impression of a powerful and intimidating individual. They are initially upset by the player trespassing in their domain, but they accept them as worthy after being spared.
Battle
Everhood
After the player retrieves their arm in New Game+, they can meet Sam in the Cosmic Hub, who will lead them to Cat God. Completing the fight by killing Cat God will unlock the "Killing A God" achievement. Dodging all attacks will unlock the "No Hit Cat God" achievement.
During the Cat God fight, they release a heavy barrage of attacks that can catch the player off-guard fairly quickly, even changing the background to a very eye-straining static effect. The Dev Gnomes and regular Gnomes make a short appearance near the end of the fight.
Story
Everhood
Sam guides the player through the Lair Door in the Cosmic Hub, leading to the Cat God's Lair, a hollowed-out tree with a cabin that is being guarded by Cat God. When the player approaches the lair, Cat God becomes angered at the player trespassing and attacks them.
If Cat God is killed, the fight will end with the typical visual and sound effects of entering into another battle. However, it is a fake-out, and it actually transitions into an offer to hear the Secret Absolute Truth from the disembodied voice. If Cat God is spared instead of killed, the player will not receive the opportunity to hear the Secret Absolute Truth, and Cat God on the overworld will praise the player for being worthy. Whether Cat God is killed or spared, they will disappear, allowing the player to reach the lair.
Red and Sam enter the lair to discover a SMEGA console with Super Racket 2. The lair also contains a closet with colorful fractals that resemble the title screen or disembodied voice background. A locked door on the right side of the lair leads to an Incinerator that is not possible to survive.

Trivia
- In Everhood, the song used for Professor Orange's Masterpiece is the same one that plays during the Cat God fight. Professor Orange calls it an "artificial replication of an ancient creature," and it is possible that they were trying to artificially create Cat God. It is also discovered that the dome housing Masterpiece was powered by the Aquamarine, which is a gem associated with the Cat God statue in the Cosmic Hub.
